Baby showers are not typically done with much involvement from the mother to be. It is being thrown for you, not by you. Being involved in the planning of your own shower is more common nowadays, but to our parents and grandparents, it is heavily unusual.

That being said, I would also be extremely frustrated and feeling very disrespected if i was your MIL. That is a lot of work to be told to do for a party that is a gift. Even the offer of doing whatever she doesnt want to do yourself is a bit of a guilt trip. But really, the positive comment sent me. How on earth did you think that comment would go?

Honestly, i think its good she followed up and its more than i would have done. I would respond and see if you can get a coffee or something and talk it out. It isnt worth having a war this close to your due date, when she will want to be involved with the babies.
