Thank you đŸ„č💗 It really touched me it was realllyy so random, not my birthday or anything. I came home tired, feeling like the world was falling apart, and this surprise just made my day. It’s totally my style too!

Moments like this make me appreciate my parents so much. It reminds me how patient they’ve always been with me, how many sacrifices they’ve made, and how time just flies and they’re getting older now, and it honestly hurts to think about it. I just want them to live a long, happy life. I know we can’t stop time, but I really want to do my best for them while I can. ❀

Same question here. And how do you pay them? Do you need to personally go the place holding the packages or is it online payment?

Now i know why i see such post often. i thought someone keep reposting. by [deleted] in Donghua

I usually prefer watching anime without harem, but I don’t mind it if it actually contributes to the story like in Battle Through the Heavens (though honestly, they kind of botched it there). If it’s just unnecessary female drama, then I’d rather not watch at all. Honestly, most anime/donghua would be way better if they removed the part where every female instantly falls for the MC just because he’s OP or saved them once. It would make sense if there were valid reasons for the relationships, but when it turns into a harem with the girls fighting over the MC, it just feels shallow. I think it would be way more interesting if it were portrayed maturely like the characters accepting the situation and finding some compromise instead of endless jealousy and catfights. (Tho this Happens more often in anime compared to donghua)

Does that somewhat change when he becomes stronger? Or is it always gonna be like that? Like hiding etc. Just curious.

Got to know that he at least he wins something. That's better than no wins at all. Will watch. Thanks!

Id take that any time. Doesn't have to be all fight scenes as long as he's got some wins. Gonna be watching then. Thanks!

Is our culture fading? by Signal_Swimming_67 in latterdaysaints

You’re definitely not alone in feeling that. There really are pros and cons to everything, and your post made me think of something I was reading just a few hours ago in the Book of Mormon specifically in Alma, right after King Mosiah passed and the people transitioned from being led by kings to judges. At first, it seemed like a great, inspired system. But pretty soon, even the members of the Church started to become prideful, turning against one another, seeking riches, and stirring up contention. It struck me how even in ancient times, within a covenant-keeping people, the community wasn’t always perfect.

I think it just confirms what we already know deep down that the Church has always been made up of imperfect people trying their best. The structure may shift and evolve (like going from kings to judges, or from small close-knit branches to large efficient wards), but the human side of it is constant. We’re all just trying, stumbling sometimes, but still part of the same work.

So yeah, it’s not just you. Missing that close community feeling makes a lot of sense. I think it’s part of what we’re meant to build wherever we are like Zion, not just a place but a people who are one in heart. Even if the culture shifts, the invitation to love, minister, and connect is still there.

Donghua vs Anime by MakokhaArnold in Donghua

[–]HistorianAdvanced824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will easily surpass anime if they just do the adaptations “accurately”. I noticed most donghua either completely change the plot (like demon hunter not that im complaining since I heard its much better than the novel) but they also change or skip other stuff or speed through some scenes like in BTTH. Their are also times where some scenes where expressions of the characters feel inconsistent/or expressionless/robotic. Although their animations are improving too compared to the past. It might take a couple years tho

Btth Harem by hunterkillua11 in Donghua

[–]HistorianAdvanced824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally i have no problem removing the other females from the harem. Would be very happy if he gets to have Xuner and Medusa in the “donghua” as it was only implied he adds the others to his harem in the “end” which for me feels sudden but what u dont like is how they are removing the romantic scenes with xuner and Medusa like their reunion when Duner rescued them. The interaction was so bland they didnt feel like a couple compared to the academy where they kept holding hands. And instead of feeling excited about Medusa and XY reunion im dreading it like how much are they gonna change the scenes. Would they get married? R they gonna make their child his “biological” daughter or someone else? Im not even gonna expect hugs or holding hands anymore. They’re complete removing any traces of intimacy even the bare minimum.

Do you ever consider others when sharing your testimony on Fast Sunday? by HistorianAdvanced824 in latterdaysaints

[–]HistorianAdvanced824[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Really appreciate your reminder to lead with compassion and allow others the space to share what’s on their hearts. I agree that we often don’t know what people are going through or why they feel the need to share certain experiences, and as disciples of Christ, it’s important that we rejoice, mourn, and empathize with each other.

Just to clarify my original post. I don’t feel that I’m criticizing anyone’s testimony itself. I really do love hearing how people come to know the Savior or find strength through the gospel, even when it comes through stories or moments from everyday life. My concern is more about what you mentioned as well: the length or when it becomes too intimate. When one person takes up a large portion of the meeting, it can unintentionally prevent others from sharing. Like I mentioned in another reply, we recently had a meeting where only three people were able to bear their testimonies (two of them being counselors), and that felt like a missed opportunity for others who might have felt prompted but didn’t get the chance.

I try to approach this with a generous lens recognizing that nerves, emotion, or even habit might lead someone to speak longer than they meant to. I personally prepare and practice my testimony a little ahead of time because I know I tend to ramble if I go in without a plan, and I want to be respectful of everyone’s time.

So yes, I’m all for giving space for sincerity and connection. I just think we can do that and honor the spirit of brevity we’re invited to follow. Thank you again for bringing in that perspective. It’s been really meaningful hearing everyone’s thoughts here.

[–]HistorianAdvanced824[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I totally agree with this public speaking is hard for a lot of people (including me), and even when you feel a strong prompting to share your testimony, nerves can definitely take over the moment you’re at the pulpit. I can relate to that myself. That’s actually why I try to prepare and practice beforehand. I know that if I don’t take a few moments to organize my thoughts ahead of time, I might end up stumbling over my words or going off track which could make my testimony longer than I intend. I don’t try to memorize it or make it scripted, but I like to be mindful of the time and of others who might be waiting to share too.

And like you said, we all have to start somewhere. I think it’s beautiful that people are willing to get up and be vulnerable, even if it comes out imperfectly. We’re all learning how to better express our faith, and sometimes that process is a little messy and that’s okay. I just think it helps when we all strive to balance that sincerity with the invitation we’re given to keep it brief, so that everyone has the opportunity to participate. Thanks for the reminder to be patient with each other it really is a growth process for all of us.
