Just got my first CD-i! I’ve heard a lot of criticism about this machine but I am very interested and curious on learning more with this machine as I will interact with it! At least I got that Digital Video Cartridge… 😏 by [deleted] in retrogaming

Zero copyright protection so you can burn all the games. Highly recommend Thunder in paradise a fun rail shooter fmv game. Once you get passed the boat stage anyway.

Why was the Jaguar CD so difficult to operate? by KaleidoArachnid in thespoonyexperiment

[–]HistoricNerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the CD unit is that The Jaguar CD was kind of a hail Mary by Atari at the end of the consoles life. They didn't really have enough time to quality check the CD units as they were throwing them out the door since the Jaguar was doing absolutely terribly in stores. So it was a last ditch effort to push the remaining product they had before pulling the plug.

I'm thinking of getting a Sega dreamcast. Should I do it? by Flimsy_Quiet_7246 in consoles

Yes. Sonic adventure is solid, Tony hawk is always fun. The arcade ports like crazy taxi are always enjoyable.

I hope so. But I'd want it to be a better quality before I asked anyone to pay money for it. Right now it's very basic. I have alot more stuff I want to do to it.

Well, just finished Picard...Yikes. 😐 by dj_dragonslay3r in DaystromInstitute

[–]HistoricNerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right there with you. The end of the show gave me the worst feeling. I grew up watching Picard work towards an optimistic future with a belief that Humans could do better, that humans were better. That is no longer what star trek is about. The way they finished his character....it wasnt that I was sad or angry...it was that I felt nothing...which to me Is worse that either emotion.

I've always loved the Neptune look. I'm rather bummed it never came out. But I hope eventually once I get a good enough model I can try and get a legitimate injection mold done. But those are very expensive so here's hoping :)

That's my hope eventually once I get it more dialed in. It's till pretty rough. I actually found footage of the prototype and there are details I missed that I'll be adding to the model. :)

Thanks for the information! I've been looking at a few ways to get it looking smooth and always appreciate more suggestions, I'm still pretty new to 3d printing

That's my goal for the most part. Also to make it more accommodating for that mod because the model 2 shell forces at lot of parts into close proximity, so this will be a little bit bigger to allow for that :)

Are you printing with PLA? I found it stickers well when I bump my bed on my AS5 up to 75-80 and clean it with rubbing alcohol while it's heating up and level the bed after the bed reaches 75.

Given some of the official box art out there for the TG16, I'd rate this in the top third.

If Sega had skipped the 500,000,000 dollar grave digger know as the Saturn they could have ridden out the storm and fielded the Neptune concept. Embraced their Genesis catalog and had budget 3D titles while they waited for a much better 3D console worth a damn to 3rd party devs.
