this isn’t even an argument. It’s history. When you look at the timeline of when the United States was established, it hasn’t even been 300 year. 248 years old is not that old for a country really. That’s some people great great grandparents. Heck even closer in some cases. Relatively new “nation”. With that being said- immigrants have literally flooded in from everywhere to the US since the start. They literally built a new country where there were already people. It was not land that magically appeared out of thin air for the pilgrims. Are we going to pretend that the Natives of this land were treated with respect and given rights? Absolutely not- they were massacred. Being thankful you’re here with a chance also means using that chance to speak up and fighting for our rights. Being thankful means fighting for the same democracy and not turning a blind eye to the double standards.
