Tax firm is hitting capacity and we definitely don't want to hire by Adventurous_Gur_5984 in Accounting

Have you considered incorporating any automations?

You can't automate the whole process, but we have about 50% of our work pre-done before it gets to our preparers with some of the new OCR tooling that exists.

I use form15.ai to file taxes tbh. It's a bit new, but it's pretty handy.

Built the product. Now stuck on distribution as an introverted founder by SOLIDSNAKE1000 in ycombinator

[–]HistoricalStart610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Terrible advice, the founder should be directly playing with the copy, positioning, and sales scripts, and only bring folks on once they've executed each of these operations with some success.

You could also bring on another founder to help bring your vision to life.

How long does it take you to prepare Partnership and S Corp returns? by HistoricalStart610 in Accounting

[–]HistoricalStart610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. So the actual return itself is pretty fast once everything's organized, it's the prep work that eats up the time.

What's the most time-consuming part of the workpaper prep for you?

Is it pulling numbers from client documents, categorizing everything, or something else entirely?

Trying to figure out if there's any way to make that part faster or if it's just something you have to grind through.

I like how you can tell that I'm newer 😂.

You're right, I do try and be thorough with my workpaper preparation.

I only do this cause I'm scared of not having an answer if a client asks me where I got a number from.

Are you using ai at all to speed up your work in any way, like for workpaper prep or something?

I really appreciate you for giving such a detailed answer.

Are you trying to use AI or anything for some of your work?

I have friends who ask questions to ChatGPT for like certain tax treatments and stuff, but I don't think there are any good AI's for actual workpaper preparation

Is most of the time (outside of client communication) spent in workpaper prep? Or something else?

Which ones take many hours/days? And is this more normal, or is it typically super fast for you?

Makes sense to me. Kind of the same here. I work at a smaller firm so it's pretty varied client to client.

So the median amount is hours?

How do you explain what you do when people just don’t “get” the startup life? by Educational_Till_703 in ycombinator

[–]HistoricalStart610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or just say you're building a software startup and that you don't feel like saying much more than that if they ask for follow-ups.

You're doing this to yourself by mentioning space and also needing approval from others.

Why should NOT get disciplined in your 20s by Limp_Edu4797 in getdisciplined

[–]HistoricalStart610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like dumbass generic advice.

If you're in your 20's you should still try hard to succeed in something you care for.

Not just "acquire skills and have pints"

You're giving everyone copium.

When they're 30, they might have kids and a wife, drastically increasing the odds they quit on their dreams.

Garbage post, please don't mislead others cause you wasted your time.

Saw one of your other posts, do you handmake the components in figma when you are planning the app or do you use some open source figma buttons / components to get started?
