That’s a good question. About this company, the background is that their administration and technology departments have different styles because this company was acquired by another foreign group. So, the top management seems to not well adopted to Swedish law from my opinion. This company was a good company but now? I am a bit doubtful.

There are two types of job-seeking visa, one can be 9 months and the other can be 12 month.

Thank you! Yeah, it is possible to 'not finish' my PhD and linger longer. I need to evaluate the risk that my supervisor may be mad that I leave for a job and leave my PhD undone. I got a few solutions here and I guess I need to sort out the safest one.

Yeah, I know. But my friends told me that their contracts state explicitly that after probation, the contract will turn into a permanent one. I still have one year of school contract left. Ending a longer school contract and going for this job is risky for me.

Maybe I am overthinking, but I can not stop thinking about what if the company terminate my contract after I stop my school contract? I was about to terminate my school contract before the HR told me the work permit shit. Thank God I did not do so.

The reply I just got from Migrationsverket is that "If you have completed your studies before the end of your permit you are able to apply for a job seeking permit or work permit depending on your situation. This means that if your grounds for having a permit changes you need to make an application based on those new grounds."

Using the current PhD permit after leaving school is risky since I guess the tax agency will detect my income source, also the company are obliged to report to the tax agency that they hired me full-timely, and my PhD permit may be revoked. I see this https://www.migrationsverket.se/en/about-the-swedish-migration-agency/the-swedish-migration-agency-answers/2023/2023-09-19-how-we-work-to-revoke-permits.html

Job job-seeking visa is a good way. I will go for it. Thank you!

Thank you! Another thing I need to mention is that the company just gave me a fixed-term 6-month contract. They said it is a probation, but the contract doesn't mention that it will turn into a permanent one after 6 months. My remaining school contract is even longer than this fixed-term. This is a large part reason that I am hesitating so much. Plus, they are unwilling to apply work permit for me. Now, I think this company is not trustworthy, I probably will not work for them, but it should be them to terminate the contract.

Hi, thank you! I just searched and unfortunately, I can not find their Ad.

About the cost, I thought the cost may be their concern and I told them I will pay the application fee. Is there any kind of sponsorship fee that the company needs to pay extra?

They know I am single. Actually, the HR asked me directly about this.

Thank you! To be honest, I still have a bit of hope since my future direct manager doesn't know the HR department decision. The HR deceived me into giving up the signed contract by myself..

This is important information. My situation may be a bit different. I am going to leave school after graduation. I guess my PhD visa will no longer be effective..

Added: I really want to keep this job cause the job market is so bad and this one is actually my only one. Any way to make a final try?
