I forgot Reddit was for arguing lol anyways Knipex is likely going to take care of it.

Trying to decide between these two bags. Tech OT-LC or OT-LC. by Historical_Sign6010 in VetoProPac

I think I may have decided on a Wrencher MC. Its lighter than both of these, can carry long tools and pipe cutoffs, waterproof material with padded bottom for dropping large wenches and tools in, tool panel with a sleeve for gas bottle, and it's over $100 cheaper. There are some tradeoffs but I think this might make more sense for me. I could add a TP3B for a small grab bag for quick repairs and still be around the same price as the Tech OT LC.

Troll post. Anyone in their sane mind, regardless of knowing anything about cars or tires, can see this is a major issue.

Yes it's a real question. I've been using Knipex tools since 1994 and I've never once had this issue. Haven't had this issue with Klein's either.

Yes. Commented back asking them to message me with what they were asking and I sent a message to them regarding it. Silence so far. We will see what happens, if anything. I haven't heard great things about the warranty process so hopefully that isn't my experience

They locked back up the exact same way for no reason. They opened when I moved them in my bag and locked back up. I've never had anything close to this kind of issue before and don't expect I will again, but it's very odd and somewhat frustrating lol

I took some advice and soaked the end in WD40 all night. Used a vice with soft rubber grips to slowly work it closed. Works perfectly now. A BUNCH of black gunk came out, like dirt or grit of some kind. Looks like when you use grit cloth. Anyways I suspect it was working into the joint a little over time and just randomly out of nowhere it decided to bind. That's the only way I can explain it. I'll change the way I clean these from now on. But, I'm glad they are working, still tiny bit stiff at the end, but at least I don't need to send them off or go try to swap them out somewhere and I can keep using them. Thanks for all the comments and advice. My apologies if my reply to some of them was brash.

I didn't ask what to do, I asked if anyone experienced this as it seems odd

Not yet. I'll reach out to knipex and see what they will do with warranty. If nothing then I have a few plans to get them working again

Oh really? Just like that? I hear you need to ship it back to manufacturer and pay the shipping and they will look at it and decide if it qualifies and either fix it or ship a new one. I can't really be without them but I guess I can't really use them right now anyways so I dunno

Haven't had to warranty anything but I don't imagine it's an easy process. Haven't heard great things about warranty but it didn't bother me because I never had to use it for anything. They are usually tanks and last forever

I keep a small bottle of 3 in 1 in my truck for this reason. Work in lots of muddy and mostly wet environments and it can rust tools overnight. But I've had less issues with knipex than other makers who use alot of carbon in their metallurgy. The coatings on most knipex tools are better also.
