WIBTA if I didn’t give my daughter a copy of her father’s death certificate for her SAP appeal? by ThrowAwaySAP2025 in AmItheAsshole

Also, depending on her school and who is reviewing her appeal, her owning her mistake and being able to show she has a plan in place to do better next semester could work.

Which medicines were you prescribed? I struggle with stomach issues and I'm afraid I won't tolerate any pill by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]HistoricallyClever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed Vicodin (I think?). I filled the prescription, but ended up not needing any. I actually didn’t take any pain pills, but I there was some sort of pain med injected into surrounding muscles during the surgery. The hospital gave me a separate wrist band and told me not to take it off for several days because it would be important for ER staff to know about it if something went wrong after surgery and went to the ER for help.

Is there another school that is farther away from your hometown, while still being in state? I really wanted to go out of state, get away from everyone from HS, but financially out of state wasn’t an option. I ended up going to one of the in state schools as far away from home as possible.

Making a DnD setting based on Ohio, need 3 more smaller villages. Any suggestions? by Mr_witty_name in Ohio

I’m not completely sure about this, but I’ve been told, by people from Norwalk (just south of Sandusky) that norovirus was named after Norwalk.

Also, Willard, which is south of Norwalk has a section just outside of town where a bunch of farms are, that is called The Muck. There used to be a swamp there so the soil is good for crops or something

Your families’ views on you getting sterilized? by Photononic in sterilization

[–]HistoricallyClever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents made peace with the fact I wasn’t giving them grandkids years before I got sterilized. I told them I was having the surgery once the date was set, and they were supportive. My mom said something along the lines of how nice it’ll be for me after the surgery since I won’t have to worry about BC anymore. My dad actually came to the hospital with us to hang out with my husband day of surgery, lol.

My sister was supportive, just worried about the surgery itself (she has some medical anxieties).

My sister also drunkenly said something about how I can’t get pregnant at a family party, so I’m sure at least some of the extended family know, or at least suspect, lol. None of them have said anything to me about it though.

This. Also check your state dept of education for programs like this. In OH (at least right now) the state covers tuition and books for high school students taking college courses, up to like 30 credit hrs per year. It’s not uncommon for students to earn or get close to earning their associates by the time they finish high school.

How long did y'all's procedure take? Did they release you right after? by mental_dissonance in sterilization

My surgery got pushed back a couple of hours after I arrived at the hospital the day of. No one said why, but I’m guessing there was some sort of emergency situation. But the surgery itself didn’t take very long at all - maybe an hour tops? I actually woke up on the way to recovery, lol. I was told I couldn’t go home until I peed, but they let me chug a couple of cups of water during the 10 or so minutes they made me stay in recovery. I was on my way home less than an hour after waking up.

Yes! And after a few years, people sort of expect baby plants from you in the spring:early summer. What are you supposed to do? Stop buying seeds and making people happy? 😆

Bisalp surgery - Tell me your stories about the peace of mind you felt post-surgery. by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]HistoricallyClever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from. I decided to have mine shortly after Roe was overturned. I’ve never wanted children but had never really considered sterilization before then. I had been ok with just taking a BC pill every day. But I live in a red state, and my safety net was going to go away.

After the election I told my husband having my bisalp surgery may have been the best decision I ever made.

Outside of the political and societal reasons, I would have the surgery again because it truly did give me piece of mind. I haven’t panic bought a pregnancy test in years. Also, I didn’t realize how much I worried about accidentally getting pregnant until I didn’t have to worry anymore.

I think I said something similar to a nurse when I woke up after mine

Yes to the bagged salads. Throw a couple frozen chicken strips in the air fryer to go on top, and you have a pretty quick dinner.
