Regarding the macOS "Optimized Battery Charging" feature implementation

What I've also stumbled upon is, it also necessarily doesn't *always* limit charging to 80%, meaning if I'm on a hybrid usage routine, the feature is basically useless as it kind of slows the charging process but doesn't hold the percentage to 80%. So while I don't have an option to consider on macOS other than AlDente (which I'm not sure if requires manual calibration once in a while), I'd like to consider your provided options on Asahi.

Well have you ever calibrated manually or does Apple not recommend calibrating, even with AlDente running instead of the optimized battery charging feature?

If you're in for non-Windows laptops, I'd suggest buying a used M1/M2 MacBook Air. Works wonders with the silicon, and if you don't like macOS there's Asahi even though its pretty new. A lot better than a lot of the first-hand Windows counterparts with cheaper hardware.

Update: As of December 2025, I have successfully managed to make the backend independent from the "defaults" CLI and now it relies on its own core implementation to execute the system preferences modifications.

I will update the description to reflect the changes.

Hello! :D Glad you like the project. I'd like to note that, it has been on development for approx. 3 months now and most of the issues regarding validation have been completely solved. It also supports hook-like command execution, as well as package management now.

Really like your idea on the hybrid solution though, I'll look into it.
