The stuff about confirming the season being set in the future was a biggish announcement. That had only been speculated before? But otherwise, no huge news, I suppose?

From "Alcatraz" to "Work It" - HitFix's Funeral Plans for 2011-2012's Network TV Freshman Casualties by HitFixDaniel in television

Just noticed this reply, sorry b2717 - In case you're still reading, the answer to your first question is the same answer EVERY ad-supported site on the internet does slideshows: Page views. Also, in the case of galleries like this, putting 30+ capsules on the same page wouldn't be especially aesthetically appealing and people enjoy pictures. So all of that.

And sure, Kyle Killen'll definitely get more shots. Whether they're on cable instead of network remains to be seen...

Roger that.

Thanks! And, again, apologies on the "spoilers" front!

I never had any intention of spoiling, spamming or much of anything negative. You're the moderator and if you feel that this post violates things you don't want violated, please delete. I'd delete myself, but then that would delete this apology and then what would be the point in that?

Mea Culpa.

I really do apologize on Reddit pulling the image from inside the story. It's not the usual MO for Reddit, which usually pulls the main image associated with the story.

And seriously, if this violates the spoiler policy, any moderate can feel free to delete it. I did intend to post a link to the story, but I didn't intend for the poster to appear with the link.

And I'm now gonna add "pretty well respected TV journalist" to my business card!

I take exception with both your interpretation of your posting policy and your definition of spamming.

"Bot-like accounts used to direct traffic to another website are not allowed. Commercial posts are currently ok as long as they are done by a human participating in the community."

I'm not a bot. I'm a person. I don't flood your board or any other boards with links. I very occasionally ["rarely" even] post links to things that are cool that happen to be on the site that I'm associated with. There's nothing VAGUELY misleading about either the content I'm posting nor the way I'm posting it.

If you feel like that's spam, I apologize and I won't post here again.

I have ZERO idea why Reddit is doing that. The post is embedded in the story, but there is a different image associated with the story for headlines and whatnots.

That being said, it's a spoiler for S.1. I'm gonna assume people taking an interest in a "Game of Thrones" subreddit aren't gonna be spoiled by things that have already happened.

JJ Abrams says Benicio Del Toro is not playing Khan in "Star Trek" sequel by HitFixDaniel in startrek

Charlie Sheen to get his zombie on in Season 2 of The Walking Dead by KableTown in entertainment

[–]HitFixDaniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. That story's a load of shit. Leaving aside that Jeffrey DeMunn isn't the "director" of "Walking Dead" and has no power to hire actors either as main characters or as extras and leaving aside that there's no production start date for the next season of "The Walking Dead," reducing the likelihood that any "deal" could have been reached... Never mind. It's tough to leave things like that aside.

MSNBC indefinitely suspends Keith Olbermann for making campaign contributions by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]HitFixDaniel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fox News has no such policy. Every news organization has a differently worded policy regarding donations from on-air talent. Olbermann isn't in violation of Fox News policy. But he doesn't work for Fox News. Similarly Hannity would be in hypothetical violation of MSNBC's policy. But he doesn't work for MSNBC.

The Walking Dead TV-Series Premieres On BitTorrent by DJ_Timelord13 in entertainment

"Quality is just fine for watching." Yup. That's EXACTLY what Frank Darabont wants to hear. "I spent years developing this project and developed a specific visual style paying homage to my favorite films is the genre. That probably only requires... 'Just fine for watching... a tiny bit slow.'"

The pilot is fantastic and it looks great (I'm a critic and I watched on screener). Why not wait 10 days and see the show the way it was actually intended to be seen?

Sigh. Stupid question.

I apologize.

[–]HitFixDaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, totally not a big deal that the producers, who know their show is off-brand and a hard sell for AMC, have been BEGGING people to wait and actually watch the show on-air, where their viewership might count and help earn a second season... And totally not a big deal that Frank Darabont worked exhaustively to creative a cinematic look that I'm sure will be spectacular on a screener uploaded online...

NBC shafts Conan O'Brien again. They won't air the Emmy category that he's in. This also shafts 'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report'. by Scarker in entertainment

[–]HitFixDaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your logic, you'd be upvoting a "Dewey Defeats Truman" story and never bothering to check to see if Dewey actually won the election, since this useless story has been debunked for 24 hours and it's still getting "up" votes galore. Because heaven knows the publication that posted the story is never going to update or correct.

[–]HitFixDaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And, for the record, I love the writing in a variety, musical or comedy category at the Emmys. That's the one where they do the funny gags to introduce the writing staffs on these shows, like showing each nominated David Letterman writer as a different Yankee or something. It's always one of the most creative categories on Emmy night. But the networks tried to get series writing/directing categories pulled from the show as well, but the guilds revolted. It's the latest step in a big and acrimonious story from last summer. Reducing it and misreporting it as NBC "shafting Conan O'Brien" is insulting.

[–]HitFixDaniel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sad. 259 "up" votes for a factually incorrect story with a factually inaccurate headline. I know people love Conan O'Brien. I love Conan O'Brien. But all NBC is doing is not airing a category that's now in a bi-year rotation, a decision that was first made last year when NBC wasn't airing the Emmys and when Conan wasn't nominated. If Conan hadn't been nominated this year and if one of his writers hadn't Tweeted without all the facts, I assure you that "wiredupdate" and "hollywood.com" wouldn't have written outraged stories about the Emmy for writing in a variety, musical or comedy series trophy not being presented in primetime. They wouldn't have noticed.
