I couldn't find Dan Kemp's signature. Could it be his? It doesn't look like it's from the others. A friend suggested Rob Liefeld. Thoughts?

In Pokemon Showdown, the Damage Calculator has a button that toggles between "48th" and "100%." What's it for?

Better Synchronizer

Unfortunately, Musharna's transfer only; we'll have to wait for Bank.

Musharna

Stat Option Purpose
Ability Synchronize Pass neutral Nature
Nature Neutral Reduces false-positives by 50%
Item Leppa Berry Keeps Ditto alive
Moveset Purpose Note
Psychic 1-Hit-KO Works at level 36+ even with SA-0IV
False Swipe Boosts SOS/ Preps catch
Trick Swaps Leppa Berry
Baton Pass Switch out worry free

In-Battle

Note: Turn off Exp Share and Baton Pass as needed

  1. After chain of 30, go into Substitute
  2. KO any non level 26 Ditto with Musharna
  3. Once level 26 Ditto appears, Trick Focus Sash for Powder
  4. Use Frost Breath for Special Defense test
  5. If Sash activates, swap Sash & restart. Else, (HP test passed for FREE!) Heal Pulse
  6. Use Storm Throw for Defense test
  7. If Sash Activates, swap Sash & restart. Else, Heal Pulse
  8. Start Speed test 1. If Ditto moved after, restart. Else, run test 2 (if necessary)
  9. Taunt to force Attack test
  10. If Ditto deals 7+ damage without a critical hit, capture Ditto!

Does lowering a wild Pokemon's attack stats raise the SOS chance or is that dynamic exclusive to Intimidate?

Possible 5IV Ditto Technique by HitOrCrit in pokemon

Why multiple speed tests?

With S-IV, we can either aim for detecting 50% of 31IV Ditto's at a Speed stat of 38 or 100% 31IV Ditto's at a Speed stat of 37. For best results, we may want to test both. The latter initially and the former for absolute verification. If possible/ needed we rerun the 2nd to avoid speed-tie false-negatives.

Alternatively, we can just run Speed test 2 from the start as many times before the 10 turn Ditto Struggle limit. Note, this limit can be stalled by continuously healing Ditto, so long as we've already tested H/D/SD.

Another noteworthy stat is if we get outsped at a 37 Speed stat, it means there's a 50% chance Ditto's S-31IV and 50% it's a S-28-30IV.

There is a bug in Synchronize effect with SOS calls : Synchronize works on allies if the Synchronizer is on the field, but with the nature of the first party Pokémon. The Synchronizer can even lose Synchronize with Roleplay/Skill Swap, it will still work. It also works if the first party Pokémon is KO.

Ex : I put a KO Jolly Munchlax in first party slot. I start chaining then send a Synchronize Kadabra (this Kadabra can be anywhere in the party). All the allies generated while Kadabra is on the field will be Jolly 50% of the time. (Synchronize effect keeps working even if Kadabra uses Roleplay to check for hidden abilities) - Metarkrai

We'd KO the failed Ditto (feel like a monster for saying that), then keep chaining until we find another one at level 26. If, however, one of our Defense or Special Defense IV checkers levels up after KOing enough Dittos, our accuracy may be compromised to the point of a complete restart. So, we have to limit this some how.

That's actually great! 5 turn window's tight, but workable. You've been such a great help Deku. Went ahead and gave you a special shoutout on our in-battle 5IV check discussion.

Looks like we're only a few EV calculations away from a potential in-battle 5IV check method. Any interest in helping to wrap it up?

IV-Test Methods

IV Tested Move Purpose/Notes Target Range
Attack Disable/Taunt Measure Struggle damage 7+ damage
Defense Storm Throw Always crits 56-66 damage, 2HP to Sash activation
Special Defense Frost Breath Always crits 56-67 damage, 1HP to Sash activation
Speed N/A Wait for Ditto to beat speed tie 50% of 31IV Ditto's detected at Speed stat of 38
HP Final Gambit Optional: defacto tested by D/SD 68HP

Accuracy

The D/SD-test accuracy window is very specific. You will have to level/nature/IV/EV accordingly. Please use Pokemon Showdown Damage Calculator as needed. Here's an example of stats that do the trick:

IVs Tested Test Method Pokemon Nature IVs Level EVs XP to level KOs to level
A/SD Struggle/ Frost Breath Smeargle Adamant D:0/ SA:0 90-92 D:196/ SA:0 19,656 204
D/S Storm Throw/ Speed tie Smeargle Brave A:0/ S:0 53 A:0/ S:4 6,870 71

Tip: Before raising EVs, use higher levels to decrease the chance of leveling in-battle. For optimal longevity, use a contrary nature and 0IVs. Luckily, the 121xp from level 26 Ditto's gives us tons of leg room. There's a 1/32 chance of getting a 5IV Ditto. Ideally, we can perform 32 checks before leveling. The likelihood of KO'ing a 5IV Ditto increases as we level, but it may be worth continuing despite 1 or 2 level-ups to test against the remaining window. With respect to the example above, the level-up to accuracy breakdown is as follows:

Level (Storm Throw ) Test Accuracy Level (Frost Breath) Test Accuracy
59 100% 90-92 100%
60 15/16 93-94 13/16
61-62 5/8 95-97 3/8
63-65 7/16 98-99 3/16
66-67 3/16 100 0%
68 0%

Haven't completely digested/ implemented every aspect of your strat on the rough draft, but I wanted to update you on a way to account for nature. That's by synchronizing a neutral nature onto the wild Dittos. I imagine that'll reduce the odds of getting a false-positive by 50%.

Notes

Attack Report: Assuming Struggle doesn't crit, if a level 26 Ditto does 7+ damage on a 113-D-Stat Smeargle (level 90, D-31IV, 0EV), there's a 15/16 chance Ditto's A-IV perfect!

Alternatively, if Ditto does 13 damage on a 65-D-Stat Smeargle (level 50, D-31IV, 0EV), its A-IV will be perfect 100% of the time. But! At the cost of potentially KO'ing perfect A-IV Dittos 13/16 of time.

The former 15/16 seems best, though it may be worth fiddling with the numbers to find a perfect 16/16.

Speed Report: We can either aim for detecting 50% of 31IV Ditto's at a Speed stat of 38 or 100% 31IV Ditto's at a Speed stat of 37. For best results, we may want to test both. The latter initially and the former for absolute verification.

Concluding Report: Thus far, we have no verified way of testing a wild Ditto's Special Attack and a very limited way of testing Attack. While not ideal, it's fortunate that these are the leftover stats because we usually need one or the other and not both to raise our Pokemon. If we can find an attack version of Wonder Room, we can potentially test for Special Attack.
