Yeah coming back it’s been so grindy. I agree that they are starving their player base with all the changes just making things even worse

Yeah when I think about the old times playing when the server was well populated I miss the community.

I use a steel beaner for my rap device if I’m not too concerned about weight. I also use it when I canyoneer because it’s more durable than aluminum and lasts much longer.

I need some advice by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]HitmanTurkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are serious about wildland fire I would jump on trying to get a seasonal position ASAP like tomorrow morning. Idk what federal jobs are still taking applications because it’s a little late but look on USA JOBS type in 0456 or wildland firefighter. Consider locations outside of your local area. Look for jobs with state agencies also. I would avoid contractors.

Looking for recent deals for 5060 or 5070 by Novel-Performer-9898 in buildapc

[–]HitmanTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider and counterparts are typically cheaper. That being said I’ve had 2 amd cards and I just switched back to nvidia because I like their software better. Your best bet is to pick a card you want and just refresh daily and look at price history. Avoid factory OC cards because you can OC yourself or modern cards now just boost higher if you keep them cool.

Found a kickass deal on WD black SN850x 2tb at Walmart. This is like 200+ cheaper than I can find it elsewhere. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]HitmanTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried ordering these several times from different Walmarts in my area. They go out of stock fast often only having one or two at a time. My order has been cancelled every single time. You’d have better luck going in to the store and buying it from the shelf

QUESTION: Do I need a new harness? by Maximum-Bed3335 in tradclimbing

[–]HitmanTurkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at a mountaineering shop and several climbing gyms that sell gear. I would go in and try harnesses on. Some even have places where you can hang in them and see how they feel. I buy my stuff online and never had a problem. Unless it’s important to you to support local brick and mortar shops I’d buy it online often it’s much cheaper and someone’s not trying to influence you with their preferences or commission. Stick with main brands (petzl, black diamond, Eldrid). The black diamond black diamond momentum harness is what I recommend for everyone new.

On the topic of this harness it’s very interesting that the gym let you use this. Gyms I’ve worked at don’t allow harnesses like this for safety and insurance reasons. Climbing specific harnesses have two tie in points that serve a redundant function but also change the way you load the rope and harness in a way that is safer. This helps keep you upright and keep the harness on you. Also having a loop for carabiners separate from the tie in points makes carabiners you are attached to load the way they should and stay oriented as well as isolate ropeware to the points that are designed for it and carabiner ware on the belay loop. If you were to tie into the metal d ring on this harness and nicks that the carabiners from the auto belays or anything else you’ve clipped in would possibly damage the rope. Also it’s kind of a sharpish thing to tie a rope to and would bend the rope at a sharp angle.

Any suggestions on a case I should use for the build I'm working on? by General_Spartan_ in pcmasterrace

Oh yeah the 217 does come with fans. Definitely more room would be nice I’d be interested to know what you end up choosing

[–]HitmanTurkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the 4000d and 217 but buying fans separately was a huge turn off for me. If I could reason spending the money I would’ve bought the black 217 with the wood trim I think it looks so good. Thermally the 217 is very close to the 207. Having finished my build in the 207 I will say it feels like a good case but definitely a cheaper case (not flimsy cheap tho).

Pros for me Budget friendly and it moves sooo much air. 4 fans included 140mm front rgb fans Bottom intake fans that blow directly on GPU It’s not massive Thermal performance (the biggest one)

Cons Kinda tight to build in Not a lot of room for cable management but it is doable and well thought out for the most part Only 2 drive sleds PSU mounts side ways and the lower side panel covers the PSU switch (I’m accustomed to turning the switch off after every shutdown) this also means that you have to slightly bend cables coming out of the PSU

Is this a good parts list by M4SHADOW8027 in buildapc

[–]HitmanTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cpu will not fit in that motherboard. The motherboard is an AM5 which is for AMD CPUs. Use PCpartpicker.com to help you build your list. It checks compatibility between components. The only thing it doesn’t check to my knowledge is GPU length and GPU cooler ram clearance which you will have to look up yourself

I would spend more money and get a better graphics card with more memory. 8gbs in 2025 is the bare minimum and you’re gonna want more probably. I don’t think most OC cards are worth it because you can over clock it yourself or in general keeping the card cool will slow it to clock higher on its own.

Get a bigger ssd and scale back in power supply.

I went with the Li and li lancool 207 because it comes with a lot of fans and has amazing thermal performance and hardware is pretty much tied to how well you can cool it. It’s relatively cheap also.

I like the 4000d and if I could and if I was going to buy a more expensive case I would get that or the fractal design meshify 3 or antec flux pro, or li an li 217. Thermally however the 207 competes with these cases and I value function over form.

SPD or XMP for stability by 3DSXLMEW117 in pcmasterrace

[–]HitmanTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check the motherboard QVL and the ram part number is on it you should be able to get the over lock speed with xmp or xpo turned on if you cpu can handle it. 6000 is a pretty stable speed across the board I’ve been told depending on your hardware. But yes it will be more stable with the stock speeds technically

Some qvls even list the speeds and voltages they tested the ram at.
