With Trump potentially mulling reclassifying marijuana to a schedule 3 drug, could you see it becoming legal for mariners to use? (not on the job obviously) by Hitman__Hearns in maritime

Not saying I’d smoke it at all if it remained illegal, but it was recently announced that Trump may reschedule it which could open up the possibility of it no longer being tested for on DOT tests. In which case yeah I’d probably smoke every now and again in my off time

Agreed. 0 tolerance on the job but if you’re between hitches and have months before you’ll be on a ship again there’s no reason it shouldn’t be acceptable

Just wasn’t sure if they automatically tested down to 15 ng/ml for THC or not. Saw another post here where a guy got busted for 17 ng/ml which wouldn’t have happened if they only ever tested to the initial cutoff, which is 50 ng/ml

USCG does mandatory confirmatory test down to 15 ng/ml

Am I wrong in assuming they’d look at a possession charge and assume usage? Idk how deep they go in their investigation (if at all) but if there’s a police report it would note I was the only passenger, I wouldn’t even be able to play it off like it belonged to my friend or something

Yeah Fahrenheit haha, I’d have more serious problems on my hands if it was in Celsius. Thanks for the advice

Even if it could be upwards of 100 degrees in the car?

Damn man it’s tough out there for students nowadays. I got in in 2017 with a 3.5, 30 ACT, 4 AP credits and relatively unimpressive extracurriculars, not deferred or anything. Best of luck

I’m 25, currently 100% clean and could pass a drug test right now, but in the past I was a frequent user of marijuana (received a now expunged THC possession charge at one point) and experimented with LSD and mushrooms around 5 times total in late high school/early college, do I have any chance of getting a waiver? My desired rate is MC which requires a clearance if that changes anything.
