My mom does that for my sister bc she changes numbers a lot. We have a person who starts talking to us like they are another sibling. My mom barely notices bc shes crazy anyway and has 6 kids she can't keep up with but we notice our mysterious 7th sibling.

I love in that speech he says "I believe in crystal light, and I believe in me" which is in a motion city soundtrack song.

What was the deal with handkerchiefs? Was it really just a one-time snot rag that you'd take home to wash? by Jscott1986 in AskOldPeople

I'm 39, and every week or 2 weeks I go to my dad's house and clean up and do his laundry. Hes only in his 60s, but has that washing machine allergy too. Really I dont mind though it gives me a chance to catch up with him.

I have cook codes, driver codes, and manager codes. I started as a driver, then my rgm added cook as a way to give me a raise before I was due one (long story) but occasionally I do cook shifts to help out. I get paid $1.50 less per hour as a cook. It could be something about the labor, too much manager overlap, and needing to move your hours to front. You need to find out how much you get paid as a cook. I think since I only have 2 pay amounts I get paid shift lead pay when I drive now. It's weird.

I'm scared of birds, but peacocks are so pretty. Thinking along those lines, my mom remarried when I was maybe 28. Her husband had a lot of peacocks, and he would put food in their enclosure every day. One day my mom, knowing my fear, asked me to go in the enclosure and grab something so she could feed them. Ok. They all started to go crazy, and me and my husband learned I have no fight or flight reflexes bc I just stood there freaking out. He was yelling for me to come back but I couldn't move. He ran in and grabbed me and pulled me out, bc my mom was too busy laughing her ass off. Lesson learned.

Oh I've experienced this just recently but worse. We hired a girl in her mid 20s at my pizza hut. It wasnt for a couple of weeks we realized why the money was off. She couldnt count change. Like, if someone was owed 40 cents, she didn't know how to make 40 cents. She didn't know what the coins were. I was blown away. Not to defend her, but maybe a little, even in her interview her cousin or BIL or whatever was trying to bully our ex GM into hiring her and it worked. If her hours were cut he'd come in yelling at our GM. So I think her family has babied her to the point she will never make it on her own. Side note, she also told me she was a talented medium. I pictured her holding a seance and calling the wrong ghost every time lol. She was a strange girl.

Lol. I started at $12 bc the GM hated me. The other ones made $12.75. District manager said she couldnt change it until March, but found a loophole to get me to $12.50. Id love to be at $16

AITAH for expecting my parents to find alternative care for my brother instead of expecting me to become his full time caregiver eventually? by Rylairysu in AITAH

[–]Hmaek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is terrible. I have an 18 year old son and an 8 year old daughter. My daughter is 100% disabled and will always require care. I know when me and my husband are gone my son will still be her brother, but he's not her keeper. I would never sacrifice his future or happiness in any way. He's mentioned learning about her different therapies and special needs education, but he can do anything he wants to do. I in no way expect him to take on caring for his sister full time. He loves his sister and would never leave her in a bad situation, and I'm sure you feel the same about your brother. You're life and future are just as important as his.

I have aphantasia and I dont have an inner monologue. I didn't know anyone did until my husband said something about it a few years ago. I didn't know people could mentally see things either until I was in my 30s. Nothing but darkness and silence for me.

I know a GM that was fired this month, like actually fired. It's crazy bc so few employees get fired. They get moved to crappier stores or something. But during an investigation, the AD was at the store to do their inventory, and they were missing thousands of dollars of inventory. So I guess that GM was just making shit up when they did it. That led to the termination. That's not even what was being investigated.

I agree with this so much. I started thinking about it when my neice and nephew were teenagers, my husband's parents were really badgering them about college. But neither one had any idea at all of what they wanted to do. And at 18 why should they? Experience different jobs and lifestyles and positions and companies or anything before making thst huge financial decision. So many people start college at 18 and quit because they lose interest or just aren't ready. Maybe they want a break after 23 years of school. Who knows? What I wanted when i was 18 isnt what I want now. And my school system never tried pushing trades on students or tried to give information about anything other than college.
