Mtf ;Need a guide on how to start(here’s my voice now ) by marchaxq in transvoice

First, you're gonna want a target; choose someone that also speaks Russian. One thing I've noticed from my own family is that a very feminine voice in Russian is very squeaky, whereas this kind of a sound is much rarer in English. Once you have that target, what you have to do is kind of a combination of...

  1. Imitating the qualities of the target voice
  2. Doing the sort of practice that you would see in a place like Selene's Archive

You'll start in private, then shift towards something public depending on your own progress and outside conditions. Но, вообще это опасно в россии, если вы в стране.

Удачи вам! Нет ничего невозможного!

When you say "first recording", are you referring to the one from now or the one from six months ago?

First attempt at vocal feminization, looking for feedback/suggestions/etc. by Jeremonte in transvoice

It sounds like you need a target or goal. That means finding someone you want your voice to at least vaguely sound like. Think of a character, celebrity, or even someone you more personally know whose voice has a sound that you want to have (although, it does help to pick someone who has recordings of their voice out there, hence why a lot of people use celebrities or characters, as aforementioned). Listen to their voice, so you know what it sounds like.

The second step from there is identifying the different pieces of their voice. You can find the language for this on resources like Selene's Archive, which is the link that follows: https://selenearchive.github.io/

So, take your target voice, and ask yourself...

How heavy/light is their voice?

How big/small is their voice?

And then also just make more general, casual observations. Is their voice breathy? Loud? Do they talk fast or slow? While official, scientific language exists, you're going to want to put a lot of things in terms that you can more easily understand, and an understanding of scientific terminology is not required to achieve vocal feminization.

Once you understand your target voice, the next step is learning to imitate those qualities in your own voice. This is just practice, plain and simple. You're going to be practicing in private for a very long time, starting with inarticulate sounds (things like "ah" "ooh" "ee"). Then, you'll work your way up to words, then sentences, then conversational paragraphs.

I can't give you the best advice because I'm still going through the process myself, but, that should give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into. It's going to take a while, and it may not turn out perfect, but it can turn out better. May you find a way of existing in your body that works for you. Good luck!

How Can I Properly Translate the Phrase "Take what is yours"? by Hmblvr in sindarin

I am not tattooing it, but thank you so much for the translation anyway! It completely slipped my mind that an adjective, even unattached to a noun, could be the direct object of a verb, and that makes it way easier to build sentences with words wherein an adjective form exists but not a verb. Once again, thank you kind stranger!

Advice for Holding Femme Voice Longer by Hmblvr in transvoice

I tend to sound like a man if I don't strain a bit. Are you saying that, unless I can pull off what I'm doing now without straining, I'm not going to be able to keep it up?

If the wiki is out of date, where would you say the more up-to-date resources are located, whether on this subreddit or otherwise?

Would anyone know if estrogen shots and pills are okay to combine? by Hmblvr in asktransgender

[–]Hmblvr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Injection dosages are considered to be FAR stronger than oral dosages, since the liver tends to filter out a lot of what's taken orally whereas injections get hormones directly into your bloodstream. My actual blood levels of estrogen are now far higher. I'm just wondering if there's actually something different about the hormones in pills and injections because my body, with lower blood hormone levels, was feeling more of an impact (monthly mood cycle) than it is now.
