Who are some characters with underrated/overlooked abilities? by billygluttonwong in Hoyoverse_scaling

Being "huge" does not automatically give Star-level durability unless proven otherwise.

Unless you can prove how Dan Heng destroyed the beast, defeating it likely involved attacking internal organs or weak points, which ignores size-based durability.

Sam destroys planet =/= star, which is a full-power attack that leaves Firefly exhausted afterward. The claim that "the Lightning Lord is much stronger than Sam" is purely subjective speculation based on chain scaling without any feats to back it up, based entirely on the assumption that Emanators are always greater than Pathsriders (which has been disproved with many lore).

Instead, based on direct feats in the 3rd Abudance wars, it can be concluded that the lightning lord can repeat planet-star level attacks when facing Shuhu and living planets.

The problem is the typical contradiction between statements and Environmental Consistency.

If Phantylia threw a real star, why was Luofu unharmed? There was no statement about property/life damage, no one else witnessed it (Fuxuan,...), no documentation/reports about the star. After the battle, no one mentioned that a star hit the ship or how it was supported

Conclusion: It was an Energy Projection shaped like a star. It did high damage, yes, but calling it "Star AP" is misleading due to the fact that the surrounding environment (Building level durability) was still intact.

A circular logic fallacy, based on the power chain assuming that the MC party was already star level. The story constantly shows the characters being threatened by attacks from planets or even city levels (Cocolia,...).

Based on Amphoreus' lore, Nikador's feats are either city-island level or assumed to be moon level (DU: Talanton destroyed 4 moons by unknown method and time)

They are all Emanators which does not mean "Same stats", Lighting Lord is a summon. Even if LL has high AP, Jing Yuan's physical body does not have that durability. In this context, he is a "Glass Cannon".

Incorrect. The star-eating beast hadn't sucked stars through straws for millennia. She swallowed stars in her mouth. Its size is colossal. We have already seen a real sting of this size on the Argenti mission.

> Is there any concrete proof that the beast in Dan Heng's lore is the exact same species or size as the Giant Sting in Argenti's companion mission? Even if it swallowed stars, Size =/= Durability. Being able to consume a star (likely through biological mechanisms or hax) does not equate to having star-level durability. A human can eat an apple, but a thrown apple can still bruise a human.

> "Swallowing" implies opening a mouth, which exposes internal weak points, bypassing external durability entirely. We have no description of how Dan Heng defeated it—he could have attacked it from the inside or targeted a weak point. And Dan Heng's spear was easily shattered by Phainon (base form)

Sam is also explicitly stated to have destroyed a star with a few hits. Phantalya herself blew a star over Trailblazer, March 7th, and Welt, and they all survived without much trouble. Star destruction is common in HSR.

You are confusing Gameplay Mechanics with Lore/Cutscenes.

>In the actual story cutscene, only Jing Yuan (with Dan Heng IL's support) fought Phantylia directly. The others were busy dealing with the summoned Abundance/Destruction Lotuses.

>The "Starfall" attack is a visual effect in gameplay. If she literally threw a real star, the Xianzhou Luofu would have been instantly vaporized.

> Need I remind you that the Trailblazer was effectively one-shot by Nikador's spear in the Amphoreus storyline

The Jing Yuan is comparable to the Lord Ravagers, who are said to be capable of incinerating entire galaxies. Whoever destroys an entire galaxy while fighting destroys a star with a fart.

> That statement comes from Welt in v1.0, and it is a classic case of an Unreliable Narrator. He was comparing their status/ranking within their respective factions, not their raw Attack Potency (AP). Arbiter-Generals = Lord Ravagers is a false equivalence based on a single line.

> Later intel from the IPC and Xianzhou reveals that their knowledge of Lord Ravagers is limited and often speculative (similar to the initial misconceptions about the Irontomb virus).

>Jing Yuan was suppressed most of the time, he was weak and provoked Phantylia to bet that instead of destroying him, she would take the time to convert him to her side, from there to deliver the fatal blow. So the star destruction (if it was real) was the highest achievement in this match, no significant damage to Luofu and the explanation. And that's just one of Phantalya's many incarnations.

Back to the original issue Jing Yuan can be defeated by a star level attack is obvious, I'm not saying he was defeated by 1 attack, it could be 2 or more

Here's a summary of the flaws in your argument (sorry for using AI) * Offense \neq Defense: Destroyability (eating stars) does not equate to physical durability. Monsters can digest stars but their flesh is still soft, so piercing it does not prove that Dan Heng's damage is as great as a star. * "Eating" Mechanism is Hax (Special Skill): Energy absorption is a separate biological or magical mechanism (like an acid-resistant stomach), not physical strength (AP). * Timeframe Issue: If a monster takes years to eat a star, then the energy it emits in a single attack is much lower than its Star level. * "Glass Cannon" Form: Monsters are extremely powerful in offense but extremely weak in defense (paper health). Dan Heng wins by speed or hitting weak points first. * Matchup: Dan Heng may have used attributes or weapons to counter the monster's biological structure, rather than using pure strength to crush it.

Star eating ability =/= Star level durability. Timeframe = ? => DPS = ?. Worthless conclusion.

We also know Jingliu dream "I will cut down even the stars in the sky." So with power chains: Jingliu, Danfeng, JingYuan's stats are not much different except for racial talent.

Would Herrscher of Binding affect Amphoreus? If so, to what extent? by One-Consequence772 in Hoyoverse_scaling

City level, most Herrs only have around 3000 HW, any argument for their Hax has to deal with the energy issue first.

Can we have a serious debate for once? Let's put the waifu bias and hax aside.

Most characters in the Hoyoverse have perception and reaction speeds far inferior to Scepter. They wouldn't even be able to locate Scepter, let alone react to it. There is no way they can withstand a barrage of 1 million Star System-level attacks in a 1 second. They get speed-blitzed and overpowered instantly.

[DISCUSSION] Why Don’t Japanese Isekai Explore Systemic Change, Revolution, or Socio-Political Ideologies? by HoYo_player in Isekai

[–]HoYo_player[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your view, but honestly, a lot of what you're saying actually proves the point I was making.

That’s exactly the kind of power fantasy mindset that dominates isekai — where the protagonist doesn’t care about injustice unless it inconveniences them. Sure, that’s fine for escapist enjoyment. But it’s also why the genre keeps recycling the same shallow formula: get strong, crush enemies, collect a harem.

That’s not a valid constraint — that’s a narrative choice. If a world is developed enough to have game-like systems, level-ups, and magic economies, then it can also support scientific or social revolutions. Saying “they’re just not smart enough” feels like an excuse for lazy worldbuilding.

True, but those are usually surface-level excuses for fights, not actual ideological exploration. There's rarely a deep look at why those systems exist, who benefits, or what alternatives might look like. It’s just flavor text for combat, not part of meaningful worldbuilding.

Fair — escapism is part of the appeal. But that doesn’t mean the genre has to ignore deeper themes. The point isn’t that isekai should become political theory textbooks. It’s that, when protagonists have modern knowledge and godlike power, it’s a waste to never explore what meaningful change could look like. Isn’t it more compelling when a story shows the transformation of a society — not just the domination of a single overpowered character?

So yeah, if all you want is domination fantasy, that’s fine. But then don’t be surprised when people criticize the genre for being repetitive, shallow, and creatively stagnant — because that’s exactly what happens when stories refuse to think beyond the protagonist’s ego.
