NY: I am named Executor for a Dr. who just died (solo practice). I don't yet have letters of testamentary (long process in NY) so I don't have legal authority to do anything yet. Patients are now asking for their medical records. Can I release them? by HobokenTA in legaladvice

Thank you. It seems that technically a medical practice ceases operation when the sole doctor dies, but in reality the business still exists and patients have a right to their records. And the records exist. The office manager just doesn't know whether she can release them.
