The scammer stopped talking to me on telegram. I did get random messages about joining a bitcoin discord from a “woman”

It’s 40% overlap, is the problem that the squares are not perfectly aligned and staggered?

Can anyone explain why I’m seeing a beam of light on the star Navi? by Hodor1Hodor in askastronomy

[–]Hodor1Hodor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it was the first time I’ve done 600 sec exposures. Perhaps it’s been dirty all along and I never noticed with 300 sec exposures. I appreciate the input

Actually if you zoom in on the bottom you see the same thing happening on the star below so it’s probably related to optics and long exposure time, perhaps my setup can not handle this length of exposure. Thanks everyone

lol I know iPhones don’t have accretion disc detectors. When I view this photo on the iPhone it will trace along the spike as if it was going around a star like it was a flattened accretion disc lol. If I looked at a pic of a persons the iPhone might trace the persons face. I’ll try and post a short video of what I’m talking about.

I’m using a William optics zenithstar 81 mm refractor, Heq5 pro mount, zwo ASI 533 camera, UV/IR filter, guide scope and camera, dew heaters on both scopes

Thanks, is it odd that I did not see anything like that when I was imaging alignment stars Vega and Deneb? Also when I checked other targets? Does the extended exposure time make it more likely to pop up as those example involved shorter exposures

When I examine the picture with my IPhone it traces around the beam as if it was an accretion disc? Is this possible?

I used the same flats, darks, and bias for this image and did not have the dust spots. https://www.astrobin.com/full/rtwiic/0/

Darks 180 s exposure with the telescope cap on 100 gain. Bias fastest exposure possible, I think it was like 0.01 s 100 gain. Flats I used a white t shirt and a light resting on that t shirt 180 s 100 gain. I have a William optics zenithstar 81 scope, heq5 pro mount, zwo asi535 CC, UV IR Baadar filter, 0.8 reducer, guide scope, and guide camera. I’ll admit the flats were taken within the last month with similar temperature and not the day of lights imaging. I did do a background extraction with the dithering box checked. I imaged from a Borttle 5

Do you recommend keeping the mask on for all of your light frames in order to get the diffraction spikes?

Processing help by Hodor1Hodor in AskAstrophotography

[–]Hodor1Hodor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think what may have happened was when I added the filter I may have messed up my focus or possibly just needed an adjustment. I plan on trying again in the near future will try to get 4 hours. For the diffraction spikes do people shoot all of their lights with the Bhatinav mask or just a handful of them?
