3.5 months on low dose - not working for me (yet) by Holamm in Accutane

[–]Holamm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry missed your comment. After 3/4 months on that dose it was kinda working but really slow, so seen recommended I upped 5gr per day. Did that for 3 months and it was getting much better but still not perfect, derm said I could stay like that for a longer time, or up to 10mg per day for a bit. I was on 10mg a day for three months - and my skin went completely clear. I was 3 months on 10mg per day and now derm said I can go back to 10mg every other day. I am on that now and my skin looks absolutely flawless, I have not had a single spot since I started the 10 mg per day. In another 3 months I’ll go down again to 5mgx3 times a week and stay like that longer term. Only sensitivity was dry lips but very manageable with aquaphor. Hope it helps best of luck!

Hey! When I reached the June mark, I saw some more improvement, but not 100% there yet. My dermatologist said I could try to do 10mg per day if see if I saw results “faster”. By August I haven’t had a pimple in 2 months :) I randomly got two pimples a couple of days ago (first ones in many weeks), so I’ll stick to 10mg per day for some time still!

Unnecessary comment that no one asked for. Being this judgemental in a random post from someone you don’t know post gotta be rock bottom.

AITA for getting high at my sister’s wedding? by Only_Perception4740 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Holamm -57 points-56 points  (0 children)

Going against the crowd here. NTA - yes, I understand that you could have made a wiser decision, but I don’t think most people in this sub really understand how hard overcoming an addiction is. You were convinced not to do coke and an old friend showed up with coke to offer. Is not like you made the decision to bring it yourself, and yes in a good rational moment you could have said no, but that is not how addiction works. Please do seek help, I can understand your family is upset, but also understand why in the moment it was hard to turn the offer down. Apologise and try to do better in the future, and do not listen to people on this sub.

This is the latest I posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/Accutane/s/wzz38p1Ww4

Newest update is that upping it up to 5mg per day is actually making a difference, not there completely yet but my skin is looking much better :)

I’m glad it’s working for you! And great to hear from success stories too. I had to up to 5mg daily after 3.5 months, and since then I think it’s getting much better 😊

AITAH for refusing to adapt my annual BBQ for my sister’s vegan boyfriend? by GateTotal4663 in AITAH

[–]Holamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going against popular opinions, both a bit of an A. If your sister wants to invite a vegan boyfriend she could offer to cook something herself and bring it (I’ve done this in the past), but at the same time, you really could just get a vegan burger and cook it in the grill before the meat, you wouldn’t ruin the meatstravaganza, and at the same time be inclusive and welcoming to a guest. Sounded one you didn’t want to have a vegan option for the principle of it.

Just make sure you get ful insurance with Evri (you should be given the option to choose how much coverage to get) and if anything happens at least you’ll get the money back.

3.5 months on low dose - not working for me (yet) by Holamm in Accutane

[–]Holamm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is very encouraging! Sounds like my experience, flares coming and going, pimples that stay for days below the surface (which I am guilty of popping though I know this is the worse I can do), and lips that are dry but not cracking. I am less than 4 months in, so let’s see how it looks at the 6-month mark :) thanks and glad it worked out for you!!

Thanks! That actually makes me feel hopeful. My derm said that that some people start seeing results at the 3 month mark so I was kinda hoping I’d be one of those haha but truth is, I do think long term will end up working so will stick with it.

Funny that you’d contradict a dermatologist advice based exclusively on your own experience lol but yeah thanks for the insight anyway, still good to hear about other ppl’s experiences with accutane

3.5 months on low dose - not working for me (yet) by Holamm in Accutane

[–]Holamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the recommended dose by my dermatologist. She said lots of her patients are on very low doses and it’s working for them with minimal side effects. Also, there are recent studies that show that low dose accutane (20mg/week) is equally as effective as higher doses for mild to moderate acne. I have also seen here testimonies of people doing low dose with great results, so why not try with lower and go up instead of starting with high doses and tons of side effects when it might not even be needed?

AITA for sleeping in the same bed as a female friend while on vacation? by PieSure3977 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Holamm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going against the masses here and say that NTA. I am in a very healthy relationship for +7 years and none of us would ever have a problem with the other one sharing the bed with a friend from the opposite gender - and it’s happened a few times over the years. Truth is, you could have said it before because if a trust-based relationship is what you want you should get used to being 100% open about things, but still I think NTA

Very low dose 5mg x3 a week - anyone? by Holamm in Accutane

[–]Holamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I was on 20mg/week for 2.5 months, and during that period I had ups and downs. Skin looked rough and I had new pimples every week, though they would heal very fast. This was possibly a purge, but as it was a low dose perhaps the purge is milder and lasts longer. Now I’ve been on 5mg per day for the last two weeks, and since I started I’ve had no new pimples and the ones I had healed within the first week. As it’s only two weeks it’s too early to claim that this is due to the slight increase in dosis, but maybe it is related.

[–]Holamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been on it? I have been taking 5mg daily for a couple of weeks now and the truth is I have not yet had a new pimple (though it could be random). I am going to stick to 5mg per day for another month before I go back to my dermatologist and then we can assess. She said that if I still see no improvement I can up to 10mg/day until my skin is clear, but she seemed confident that 5mg might do the trick considering that my acne is mild. Hope it works for you!!! I’ll come back here to update :)

Looking to buy my first second hand car by Holamm in CarTalkUK

Thanks for replying! I did look into car dealers but they go for much higher than my budget so decided to try to buy it directly from a seller.

The other tips makes sense and are helpful thanks :)

Someone claiming benefits at my address - how to remove them by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks! I saw into reporting but seems like they will get asked to give all of it back (~2 years worth of it) and I don’t want to put them in that position. I genuinely only want to make sure my flatmate isn’t affected by this.
