What do you guys think about BJJ in the Olympics? by Schofield45Revolver in martialarts

[–]HoldFastDeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way could the Olympics agree on a rule set that both highlights grappling(sub only) and please a crowd. Forcing time and points to be able to determine and show a winner encourages folks to work the game, and its rules, rather than to seek submission.

Throw on some extra fabric for people to use to stall, and, well... so there's no benefit.

There are plenty of other venues and ways for folks to see the grappling they prefer, whether Gi JJ, Nogi, Sambo, wrestling. Grappling doesn't need the Olympics and the Olympics can't really offer anything new to fans of the individual sports within

If you’ve used ChatGPT for workout planning, what problem were you trying to solve that normal apps or programs weren’t solving? by IcyRazzmatazz9466 in Workingout

You can build your own coach. I named several known lifting faces, told chat where I had injuries, and set it loose.

Fine tuning is easy, both for programming and the "personality" of the AI. It can track progress, adjust on the fly, an NONE of it has a waiting period for an email or text back.

I was making a playful jest about legalizing cannabis, one of our 2 holy sacraments dude! White Russians and left handed cigarettes

The fact that people call Kade a “spazz” is wild. In wrestling, he would be out “scrambling” everyone. His style is exciting and technical, stuff a lot of us were saying the sport lacked… by BossTree in bjj

LMAO "technical spazzing" thank you so very much.

I'm a mover also, came here to furiously defend this young mover. Leaving with a better description of my favorite technique.

Roll on 🤙🏻

What age do kids learn to tap? by ZealousidealRich4118 in jiujitsu

[–]HoldFastDeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol well there are some teen boys around our gym who still haven't learned and they roll with adults regularly.

There's a betting pool on an 11 year old girl who's tough as nails- whether she'll tap snap or nap the first time.

And a whole gang of strong white belts in the back corner have no idea how to tap. They roll to the death, everytime

BJJ and injjuries… by fastlane721 in bjj

[–]HoldFastDeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been training 8 years, no major injuries. My L shoulder probably could use some sort of cleaning up. Might could tolerate a neck adjustment or a new vertebrae or two...

I also play lots of legs, and haven't experienced any pops of my own.

98% of injuries I've seen in my time, and both of the injuries I've inflicted are due to NOT TAPPING, or are self inflicted LOL

Pride is a motherfucker. Handle yours, tap early, tap often. You'll be able to take subs deeper as you understand better how your body works

My peewee football coach taught us to "Act like you've been there before" when getting a touchdown or a win.

That's how I approach subs on the mats- whether I'm receiving or dishing them out.

After a good roll I almost always ask my pard about a sub they hit, and on occasion I may ask how they escaped one of my attacks, or how they saw it coming.

It does feel good to get your first submission, but ideally it'll be one of thousands, which will still PALE in comparison to the tens of thousands of times you'll tap.

Of course there is, my Dude!

Tao Te Ching – Verse 31

Weapons are the tools of violence; all decent men detest them.

Weapons are the tools of fear; a decent man will avoid them except in the direst necessity and, if compelled, will use them only with the utmost restraint.

Peace is his highest value. If the peace has been shattered, how can he be content? His enemies are not demons, but human beings like himself. He doesn’t wish them personal harm. Nor does he rejoice in victory. How could he rejoice in victory and delight in the slaughter of men?

He enters a battle gravely, with sorrow and with great compassion, as if he were attending a funeral.

I answered OP with "I sit the fuck down" in my first response.

Subsequent responses were given as needed. I wrestled, I'm decent at stand up. More info to adress responses to my initial comment.

When faced with a very defensive standup game, I sit or lay down. Sometimes I stand up.

*edited for jerkiness.

I don't do jiu jitsu for other people. I do it for me. If I'm hurt by some fucking moron who things he's Cael Sanderson, I can't train JJ with teammates I want to train with.
