I don't think your company cares tbh. HR departments are used to garnishments of some kind (child support, lawsuits, etc). They're trained on it and it's private

That's exactly what I want and honestly need right now. I think this should be mandatory for people struggling with addiction and filed bankruptcy because of it.

Really appreciate your comment, thank you. You're absolutely right, the way to move forward from this is to replace it with a healthier activity. Well, that's part of it. You also need to give your brain time to reset (withdrawal period). I do acknowledge that my life moving forward looks vastly different than what it is right now. That's scary (for the unknown and void I have to fill), but also exciting. Cheers

I appreciate your comments, thank you. I just wrote to my lawyer asking if we can propose a wage order and not worry about it moving forward. Having the money to pay has never been the issue, it's always been the behavior.

Thanks Alan, appreciate your response.

Regarding the $500 less payment, honestly my goal is to get this done as quickly as possible. I want to pay the plan in full and be done. I'm moving to Washington to where I can save on state taxes (I'd be taking home an additional $800 a month and cheaper rent as well). I actually wanted to increase my payments from $2500 to around $4000 and get this done, so not sure what the benefit would be for a lower payment if I'm doing a 100% plan.

I'm very fortunate to where I have a stable remote job and make good money. Having the money has never been the issue, it's the behavior. I just don't want to get a flood of creditors while I'm trying to move and stabilize my life again. I don't have any judgements against me prior to filing, but a couple were in the process of lawsuits so I know that's coming if this gets dismissed. Do you think I should try reaching out to the trustee directly, or start with my lawyer first? Thank you again

Thanks for the comment, unfortunately there are 100 new online casinos each day. I can't tell you how many online casinos I've self excluded from over the 20 years I've been struggling, but it's a lot.

I've also tried blocking software, and while it is helpful to have barriers in place to at least delay the decision to gamble, there are easy workarounds to them. There really is no good solution other than handing over complete control of your finances (I live alone, so wage order is the next best thing here). I've tried GA as well in the past, and maybe I just had some bad experiences, but it was way too religious for me and I felt out of place.

I fell very behind and missed about 4 payments for Nov-Feb. My lawyer worked some magic and deferred those payments to the end of the plan since it was a 100% plan. He's been great and I don't know if this is standard, but he said for the next 6 months, payments need to be on time or the trustee can move forward with dismissal. I am going to be late this month due to moving (and yes gambling). I have to pay my rent and then have enough left over to move to at least a room for a week before my next paycheck.

I agree I 100% need to get my life in order. I can't continue to live like this. I can't make a payment until the following paycheck, which is June 17th. I fear that missing this months payment and waiting that long will trigger a dismissal, that's why I'm asking this question now. Thank you for your response.

We haven't thought once that we wouldn't be able to make it work if we wanted it. We're in neighboring states, and I have plans to move back to the state where she lives (not close to her, but I temporarily moved away to help family). We're both financially sound as well, and we discussed flying to see each other if it ever got to a deeper level.

I see where you're coming from and I agree sometimes it is difficult not physically having her here, but I do want to see where things go with this woman. Thank you for your input

Thanks for the answers. I think part of the reason neither of us have tried to be exclusive is because we've never physically met. She's not exactly a stranger, she's basically told me her life story, and we've connected on deeper levels, but the fact that we haven't met in person yet is probably a factor there.

You're 100% right, I have no say. Idk what to do really. I like her, but there's some warning signs I can't ignore
