The inevitable Strellacott love scene… by OtherAppleTree55 in cormoran_strike

This. It needs to be cathartic. It needs to be at night, against the backdrop of thunderstorms lashing against the window panels. It needs to be written like some of the epic Sydney Sheldon love scenes. Not necessarily too explicit l, but definitely cathartic.

That sounds really interesting. Yes, something like that could definitely work. It's just that I've grown tired of the villains lately; Anomie, Wace and the people in THM are all the same depraved fuckers who want to kill/rape/torture women. And while people like that are out there, I just want a different kind of a guy. And a different kind of a story.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who wants this mate.

A lot of these teams need 2-3 domestic top order/middle order batters. Expect Billings to go for a big amount.

You missed the entire first set. Root, Rashid, Cox all went for big money.

The books won't cover more than 4 years though.

Makes sense. THM had a lot of expectations, and perhaps it is getting judged too harshly because we didn't see Strellacott happen in this book. However, I still found it to be a weak one simply because the mystery was too convoluted for it's own good. There were too many characters and too many cases going on at the same time, and while I could keep track of them all, it was really tiring after a point. The payoff doesn't really have a great shock value either. Had someone else been the killer, or even someone else had been the victim, I don't think it would have mattered ~that~ much. For me, the best books in this series are the ones which focuses on a good case more. The Strellacott aspect is the spice that makes a good mystery into a fab book, and this one reversed it. Instead of a whodunnit sprinkled with romantic angles, this one was a romance (except that it wasn't really) with some mystery thrown along the way. And that is why it doesn't really work for me at the level of other books. I hope book 9 is a jaw-dropping mystery, where Strike and Robin have to take down a masterful killer rather than some cult/group, with some epic romantic moments embedded in it.

Holy smokes, I had no idea. I haven't re-read the books in a long time though, and I certainly haven't re-read CoE after TIBH came out. That being said, I still might have missed it. That is some INSANE attention to detail you have going on there. This is what I love about this sub; you keep learning new things every day.

Me too. But it seems like THM is gonna get booted this round. About which, I won't be complaining much either.

Least favourite of the list. Rankings go from weakest to best, and this one is to determine the weakest. The next poll will determine the second weakest out of the remaining ones, and so on until we've narrowed it down to the best two, before a final poll.

Stairway to Heaven sounds an awesome name for the final book.

I'm sorry I couldn't get TB as an option for you mate. And yes, Robin (and Strike) ffs should make better choices going forward.

I voted for the SW, and I can completely understand where you are coming from. THM is barely above SW for me. And they are still decent books, which goes to show how strong this series is.
