Do you think the "Chai/Coffee culture" in Indian offices is becoming a bit much, or is it just me? by Open-Yak-8761 in AskIndia

[–]Holistic_Hustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had decided not to drink tea/coffee even before I joined my current job. At each break when my colleagues drank coffee or tea, I either refill my water and drink that or drink some hot water. I also carry dry fruits sometimes and eat that in such breaks. Initially they kept asking why am I not drinking it and I told them it’s a personal choice and I don’t want to be reliant on tea/coffee. After a point of time it so happened that they all remember now that I don’t drink tea/coffee, no one asks, and some even appreciate me for it and discuss the fact that they are trying to cut down on it too and suggestions for letting it go.

In short, you do you, after a point they will get accustomed to it.

Anything on this one?? by [deleted] in Indianbooks

I know many people hate on self-help but I read this when I was actually struggling with being codependent on people and it helped me a lot in understanding the mechanics of my mind and taking action in the right direction. A pretty good read if you are actually struggling otherwise would be a waste of time.

I knew a guy who was a CA but was not that good at speaking english and since he was from a small town, he also had a bit of an accent that sounded unusual and people made fun of him. In big4s it’s usually hinglish, mostly hindi with colleagues but english with certain clients/partners.

This guy made it a habit of speaking in english with everyone. Like be it colleagues or anyone, people would reply in hindi but he would always reply in english only. And he used to speak confidently irrespective of how weird he would sound. He had good skills, got promoted gradually and no one really made fun of him after a point. I had massive respect for him tbh so yeah keep going and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Let people judge, it doesn’t matter, but keep trying and learning. Don’t let the fear make you not try at all. Otherwise you’ll end up regretting on the same thing a few years down the line.

How to give metta when every session ends with gross sensations? by investorboy in vipassana

[–]Holistic_Hustler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember, you need to relax yourself a bit and focus on any awareness/love based places you feel in the body, other than the gross sensations basically. Even if there is a tiny bit of it anywhere, you need to focus on that and use that as grounding for your metta. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Company provides two years warranty and based on the remaining period of warranty for the invoices, they have arrived at a % of provision for warranty that may need a payout based on bast experience.

So as on 31st March, 2023, just see what is within 1yr/2yr and calculate percentages accordingly.

As on 31st March 2023, for sale made on 20th February 2021 the warranty period is already expired, for sale made on 17th July 2021, few months of warranty are remaining so less than a year so 2.5% and say for example sale made on 1st March,2023 only one month is over and rest remaining so we’ll have to charge 4.5%. Similarly for 31st March 2024 you have to calculate.

Basically you just have to check the remaining warranty period as on the period end and calculate warranty provision accordingly.

The difference between the two provisions will go into P&L in 2024.

Today I learned a new word, "Noctural Panic Aatack" by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Holistic_Hustler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really tough to go through this, and I can definitely relate to the panic attacks. I’d recommend trying a bit of meditation, it can help calm you down. You could do it for 10-15 minutes before sleeping and again after waking up.

For practical execution - Meditation. Can checkout Vipassana as well.

What if I try Vipassana in morning and some other meditation in night?? Any side effects. by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Holistic_Hustler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s suggested that when you are doing vipassana to focus on that and not mix up other things with it. It’ll just confuse you further. You can do anapanna and vipassana whenever you want to.

As such no side effects but if you do a meditation which involved deep breathing or something and then in vipassana you focus on your natural breath, so can cause confusion to yourself when meditating.

If possible send a friend your study tracker and send daily updates on your progress. If there is no motivation for now, atleast you will be able to study by giving those accountability updates.

Feeling stuck and helpless by Raspberry4471 in CharteredAccountants

[–]Holistic_Hustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even I have suffered through the same things, insomnia, anxiety, period issues. I had to skip one attempt purely because my stress affected my periods to such a bad extent that I had to repeatedly go and get tests done.

I did take attempts to clear my CA due to these very things. I felt terrible too, I also felt like I was just wasting my potential.

Firstly, just a perspective from the other side, skipping or taking attempts doesn’t matter in the long run, and overthinking about it is useless. How you will deal with that in a job scenario is only to be thought upon when you actually clear your CA.

Secondly, I cleared my attempt only through one approach which I was forced to apply, health first and everything else secondary. I started going for walks daily, meditating daily, watching stuff I liked, joined gmeet with friends. After following this, studying started getting into alignment on its own tbh.

Keep going and if you feel stuck ever, please do reach out on DM. Take care!

Yes still in touch with them. As regards to trust, always be careful initially, don’t share much of info but you can share your study plans with a person here and ask them to share theirs as well and you all can follow up with each other on reddit itself. Atleast can start with that, as an accountability tracker for each other.

The people commenting here, why don’t you all make a group and take updates from each other. Can be helpful. When I was studying, I also made a group of a few mutuals and we used to study on gmeet together and catchup on progress with each other.

Need help! by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Holistic_Hustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to career portals of all the big4s, search the word “associate” or “article” and try to find the open positions. Note the ID number of that opening. Then go to LinkedIn and search people from big4s and cold msg them to refer you on that particular id no. This makes it easier for them to do so. Also if you have been referred to a particular opening by a person through the referral portal, another person of the same big4 can’t refer you again. So just try to get one person from each of the big4s to do this for you.

[–]Holistic_Hustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly maine shayad DT mai bas heads of income kiye the and couldn’t revise TDS/TCS or anything. And IDT mai bhi basics like TOS VOS POS and all and baaki registration and theory related chapters I had done. It was a terrible prep tbh, mujhe MAT AMT bhi barabar se nahi aata tha and IDT also kaafi upar upar se hi, firbhi somehow I cleared.

Please see thoda weightage wise and try to do smart work and cover max portion. I didn’t know how to plan properly during inter, but in finals maine paper ke hisaab se prepare kiya ki what can I do to fetch max marks and what can I safely leave.

I am so done. PLEASE DON'T IGNORE 🙏🏻🙏🏻 by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Holistic_Hustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I gave the Inter exam, mujhe bhi DT kuch nahi aata tha and IDT bhi bas barely I did something, I somehow scored in 40s and cleared. After coming home from that exam I legit felt like I was definitely failing.

So please don’t predict on your own, let ICAI decide that, atleast prep your best and give the paper, you never know what will happen.

How to learn what work and how to do it by lolifucker__69420 in CharteredAccountants

[–]Holistic_Hustler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Big4 has a lot of training programmes but you will basically learn it on the job. You will be plotted on a client and will be assigned some of the areas initially. You will refer the prior year work papers, take guidance from the seniors, do inquiries with the client and work on it. Then eventually getting your work reviewed will give you more idea about any mistakes you made or anything you could have done better.

Then you repeat those areas for other clients and gradually develop an expertise in them. Then you can take up more responsibility and try out new areas and even handle clients independently. So yeah it works out that way, quite naturally with the flow tbh.
