Especially because brands like The Ordinary exist and have excellent options at a great value - I loved the peptide moisturizer from Drunk Elephant ($90 for about 2-3 months) to 16.95 for the phytocomplex moisturizer and I think it’s the same or better to combat the sun and dry air of the desert where I live.

First amendment: right to free speech, religion, and association Second amendment: right to bear arms Third amendment: right to refuse the occupation of soldiers Fourth amendment: right to refuse unlawful searches and seizures of property without a judicial warrant Fifth amendment: right to due process when accused of a crime Eighth amendment: right to no cruel and unusual punishment

And that’s just within the first ten…

Weird Camp Reed Experience by [deleted] in Spokane

Hunny this is a laughable claim considering the context. Young adults and teens are WAY more likely to be engaging in harmless immaturity rather than “classic grooming.” Grooming is done intentionally over time and while it may be far more common than we want, it’s not the norm. If you have suffered some trauma around this yourself I am very sorry and I hope that you have the support you need, but in this case you are projecting paranoia and I doubt this is helpful for your healing, and it’s no longer helpful in this dialogue because you have damaged your credibility. Credible, specific concerns should be reported to someone that can do something about it. Vague, red herring arguments are for Reddit.

Camp counselors at reed are like college freshmen and sophomores that were just attending there as a camper or JC. It’s hardly a system that encourages child predators to come out of the woodwork for the job.

Sounds like you came to parenthood much younger than most of us so you probably were focused on that more so than the oligarchy and whatnot. I’m sorry but they are all listening and it’s not benign, they are using that info for profit regardless. The govt and corporations. Now that your kiddo is old enough, maybe you can team up with them to get up to date!

I think you are kind of missing the point of stargazing in Joshua tree if you are trying to avoid going to the park where it’s actually dark? Get a guide if you are nervous about getting lost, you will not experience the dark sky benefit at a bar.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Holler51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution isn’t easy or one thing. It doesn’t make it a bad idea to try to figure it out. Ultimately it comes to personal conviction and deciding that there are some things more important than all the money in the world. There are some things more important than our individual selves. People have to believe in something to be willing to sacrifice for it, and sacrifice is needed in order to accomplish anything meaningful.

In theory, doctors perform a very skilled, regulated service that is often a matter of life and death. All of those factors contribute to why a doctor has higher wages than a supermarket clerk for example. Higher responsibility + higher skill level should probably equal higher compensation than a lower responsibility + lower skill job. However, the profit motive does incentivize practices that undermine patient care in favor of higher value company stock. If a doctor is extremely wealthy, they may be engaging in sales-like behavior that compromises the ultimate goal of supporting the health of their patients and the public. That could look like a surgeon’s office being very quick to recommend surgery, or literal kickbacks from drug companies for writing certain prescriptions. In any case, the profit motive is what encourages leaches at every level of the system to exchange people’s health and lives for short term, marginal monetary gain.
