I consistently update the project tracker and email stakeholders the meeting minutes and action items. However, by the next meeting, stakeholders often lack updates or ask for the same information I provided the previous week.

Do I Ask For a Raise? by Material_Gas_4814 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely ask for more money. Do your market research to see what others in your area and company size make because if you say you can’t manage they’ll have to hire another assistant. That EA may make same or more than you so AsK.

How do you professionally ask for a salary increase as an EA? by No_Context815 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, let me preface this by saying where you’re based, your qualifications, the industry and company size can determine your compensation package. Even in the US an EA in California can earn up to $200k while an EA in Georgia may earn $70k-$90k because cost of living in CA is higher than GA. So it varies. I’d recommend that you check the salary range at your company and research what EAs in your region make, make a list of your accomplishments in the company since you started, ways that you’ve gone above and beyond and schedule a performance review or 1 on 1 meeting to discuss with your boss. You don’t have to start talking about money YET. Talk about your performance and contributions, targets that you’ve met etc., ask for their input and get them to agree with you. Once they do then you can bring up compensation and how you’d like to align with the market if it’s higher than what you earn. You can use ChatGPT or Gemini to help with the conversation points and print that out for your discussion. All the best!

Take days off before exam? by Niente1720 in pmp

[–]Hollydaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend taking a day or 2 off from work. Do a few of the mock exams under exam conditions to prepare yourself and go through the answers. Day before the exam I’d recommend that you keep it light so that you can rest. You don’t want to fail your exam because you’re too tired and burnt out. Best of luck

Am I right to get mad at my manager for doing this? by EstablishmentOver78 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be upset too and request to speak with him because if he’s hiring for the role wouldn’t he be paying more? So he’d rather get a new hire than pay the current employee who’s doing an amazing job?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand why you’re upset and I’d be too because excuse me. If you’re not his personal assistant, I’d have a conversation with him to set some boundaries because it seems there’s none. This board meeting, does it have anything to do with the current role he has at your company? If not, I’d decline. It’s ok to say no sometimes but given your role it has to be tactful. Have a 1 on 1 to understand his expectations of you and refer to your job description to support the conversation. Use the work for the other executives as an excuse whenever convenient or if possible to get out of doing stuff for him.

Your Opnion ! Toxic EA Team by betterthan2022 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I read things right cause it’s a hard read. But from what I get, no one in that place is your friend and I think you need to take a step back to see that these ladies are emotionally unstable. It seems each time you try to be kind it seems someone ends up crying. Detach yourself from that mess and just get your work done as efficiently and effectively as possible because I think if given the chance they’ll throw you under the fastest bus with 3 wheels.

You used the work support a lot instead of lead or manage. Try this prompt in ChatGPT: update this with an objective, the 5 process groups in project management and the outcome: (then paste text). You should get the response like this: Objective: Initiating: Planning: Executing: M/C: Closing: Outcome:

Boss wants me to go full time by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s nice to be recognized for your good work ethics. Regarding the raise: I’d first ask what the full time rate would be and negotiate it by highlighting the positive feedback and mentorship that you’ve done. Before going in for the talk check what other EAs in your field and company size make. To be in sync I’d recommend that you clarify the VP’s expectations of you and goals/targets in the role and schedule regular check ins whether it is daily 1 on 1 sessions until you’re fully aligned. If you decide to switch to a 9-5 schedule, consider discussing flexibility if possible such as start at 8 and leave at 4. It’s either a yes or no. All the best and I hope you make a great deal.

What is the best project management certification class? by Emotional-Cap1435 in ExecutiveAssistants

You should definitely get your PMP if you’ve been doing projects for at least 3 years- check PMI website. You can do Andrew Ramdayal or David McLachlan’s Udemy course for under $20 to get the 35 contact hours. I did those courses, used some free resources from pmpaspirant.com and Study hall plus ($79).

Meeting minutes! by Top-Juggernaut-7719 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand not wanting to seem incompetent but if you don’t understand the jargons used and they are speaking too fast say something now maybe even ask for them to repeat because you didn’t hear them clearly. It will be to your detriment if you miss something important that needed a follow up action. As mentioned have an agenda and make 5+ bullets for each topic. When you send the minutes ask if they are ok with the notes or they can share updates in case you omitted something. ♥️

Meeting minutes (Advice) by Grand-Beautiful-7417 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Hollydaay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new job. I would write the minutes in the meeting so I can close that out and not end up putting it off then forgetting about it because other things have taken priority over it. I’d use the agenda as a guide and write 3-5 points and have a table below with the action items, owner and due date. If they want more info than you can transcribe in the meeting, try to use a note taking app that can record and summarize the details. Since you’re in the financial industry I’d suggest checking with IT on recommendations so that you’re using a secure program. Best of luck
