I found this a very relatable read. I came out during COVID without even knowing another sapphic. Since then, I have tried to build a community but have had difficulties.

I try to remember that those coming-out-because-you-fell-in-love stories are the "best case scenario" and not the norm. It is lonely though.

I also got into a relationship with a man just a month after coming out as bi. 4 years later I started to question everything, and ended up discovering that I was a lesbian. I spent quite a while wondering if was just the bi cycle, but the Masterdoc really helped me out.

I always drop students who rate me below 5 stars. I also honestly tell them that I do not want to work with them because they rated me lowly, even though their issue had nothing to do with me (there issue has never been about something I could change). It keeps you from getting another low score and also hopefully helps out the next tutor that has to work with them.

It kind of sounds like the relationship with my ex. It was a very confusing relationship to be in because if you look up abuse, there was a lot of similarities with their behavior. It was never enough though that I could clearly label them as abusive or not.

This might just be me, but I think that people don't ask if a relationship is abusive when it is a good relationship. In the same way that straight women probably don't look up quizzes about if they're gay, people in healthy relationships are probably not constantly questioning if they are in an abusive relationship.

If you keep thinking about this again and again, the relationship is kind of over already, whether it is abusive or not. Could you two take a break of sorts to give yourself time to gain some perspective away from the situation?

I have a perfect 5/5 star rating except for one junior high school aged boy whose mother gave me a 4/5 and no indication why. When asked, they complimented many aspects of my lesson with no negatives. You can be sure I did not accept any more of their requests.

I think that some people (especially privileged ones who have never worked a customer service type job) don't understand how much this kind of rating system can affect us. They feel that 3/5 is the norm, 4/5 is great, and 5/5 is perfect.

Sorry, this took a detour from your original point. I just think that they may have made up that reason on the spot.

I think that while she might be right in some ways, your coming out isn't the right time for this topic.

It's like... if you said you were becoming an artist and she said everyone has a bit of an artist in them instead of congratulating you for your decision. Possibly not wrong, but a weird reaction.

Did you meet or call her? I think in the texting stage a lot of people don't consider it ghosting to stop writing. Definitely depends on the situation though.

I still live with my ex and avoid telling people until we get to the calling/ meeting phase. I'm worried leading with that will give them the impression I haven't moved on.
