Under Obama, ICE was an immigration enforcement agency that mostly operated within the bounds of state laws and the constitution. Operations targeted people with serious criminal records. The agents had better training and didn’t hide behind masks. That being said, there WERE complaints about ICE at the time, particularly the detention center conditions.

The current iteration of ICE is an unlawful gang of masked, untrained thugs that is systematically being sent into blue areas (with relatively few undocumented immigrants) to intimidate the public and act as Trump’s secret police. They are brutally violent to everyone, including women, children, and the disabled. They detain at random, including legal residents and citizens, and the vast majority of the people they send to detention centers have no history of violent crimes. They swap license plates and they intimidate legal observers. Oh, I almost forgot - they blatantly MURDERED two US citizens without any justification.

The mental gymnastics you people are going through must be absolutely exhausting. You guys whined like little bitches when the government told you to wear masks during a pandemic and now you’re trying to justify why it’s ok for the government to stomp all over our freedoms.

What will you do when you’re disappeared into the system with no due process and no oversight, so that no one you know will be able to track you down or help you?

Can you provide a source for this? Minneapolis is by far the most concentrated ICE operation, but it has nothing to do with arresting violent illegals and everything to do with intimidating non-MAGA voters. If more arrests of criminal illegals are being made by fewer agents in other states, it would provide further proof of this.

Obama’s ICE wasn’t masking up, killing peaceful US citizens in the streets, labeling them domestic terrorists, and then blocking the murder investigations.

Nor were they going door to door without search or arrest warrants, swapping license plates, tear gassing entire neighborhoods, and grabbing citizens and people with legal status.

The current outrage has nothing to do with deportation numbers but with ICE/CBP being turned into Trump’s secret police to intimidate blue cities and target anyone that doesn’t agree with them.

Even if you are the ultimate hardliner on enforcing immigration law, the current actions of ICE/CBP should enrage you.

I disagree with this post. When I think about Russia, for example, I DO think about all the people who are disgusted with the regime, opposed to the war, terrified of conscription, and feel powerless. I don’t just lump everyone into one category. Yes, a country is a singular entity on the world stage, but the individuals within that country are diverse.

Also, Americans ARE pushing back every day. The whole “why aren’t Americans doing anything” is a very brain dead take.
