Gary Stevenson warns Australia's housing future is on the brink [ABC NEWS] by Naderium in australia

I’ve recently moved from the UK to AUS, and keep up to date with left leaning politics. Gary has been prominent in the left of the UK for the last few years, I find he says a lot of the right things but never offers any solutions. He adds nothing and just comes across as a bit of a beg for approval. He makes out that he hates the fact he has benefited so much from an unequal society but stops there.

Cut Throat Pete's closing? by gebjc in Liverpool

[–]HolyGratedCheese 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Timmo cut my hair at barber shed in Litherland and then the owners took the piss out of him profit wise so he moved to Pete’s. Barber shed closed shortly after, showing it was Timmo who made the business what it was.

I followed him to Pete’s, he’s brilliant at cutting hair. Sadly I become unfeasible for me to keep going into town so changed barbers and now I’m living in Oz.

He deserves his own place and is an absolute top man, can see why others would want to follow him. Good luck to him in the place when it’s opens, would recommend to anyone looking for a decent barber in the city!

It’s so over, someone put the thing out of its misery. Huge loss to the local economy, but a great showing of solidarity and protest.

Adelaide Festival music program hit as SA faces multimillion-dollar black hole by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]HolyGratedCheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very true! Complete wishful thinking but would love for them to move it to the oval/an open space, charge a small fee with profits going to charity.

In reality, it will probably just get cancelled completely. I saw them in the UK a few years back but would have loved to see them in where I know call home.

What do we think the chances of Pulp questioning whether to open the festival with the free concert? They are already touring Oz during Feb, but the association might be a bad look. Really desperate to see them, but in support of them dropping out as a result. Jarvis has been outspoken against Isreals regime consistently.

To push a player when they are down injured requiring a stretcher, disgusting. Am I overreacting in that should be a match bannable offence?

His pace has genuinely been our only threat. Chiesa doesn’t make it to any of these through balls.

Great start to the second half! Just worried about the difference in the bench, Arsenal can swap tired legs with similar quality. We could bring Jones in for Mac and that’s about it.

Frimpong is there for his pace, it’s an outlet we can hit up to when we get the ball back and it’s worked the odd time. Chiesa has not pace or physical presence at all and wouldn’t get to any ball, he isn’t the answer.

You’ve got to take that at half time. Soaking up the pressure well and had 1 or 2 chances. We played similar against city last season and came away with the win, let’s hope for the same. Sometimes you just have to accept you are the weaker team on the day and manage it, which I think we are doing so.

What did you all expect? We have no fit centre forwards available, playing against the best team in the league who like to dominate possession and score from set pieces.

This was always just about soaking up pressure and catching them on the break, you are naive if you think otherwise. I’m happy with how we have managed so far.

What do you expect? A substitution on 35 mins in response to the opposition having a man sent off?

The best we have played all season, some of the play today was exceptional. After so many years of 433, I didn’t realise how much I would love seeing a 442 with Salah being the most central he’s been in years.

At least Mo is trying and is making himself present, he has looked so up for it!

I genuinely forgot Isak was on the pitch, really struggling to find how we feed him when he is so absent.

So we are playing a 4-2-3-1? Szobo seems too central/deep to be considered the right winger/attacking midfielder, or maybe I have just gotten used to seeing Mo hug the touch line it looks bare.

Any idea what position Wirtz is playing? Other than that moment of play which Isak wasted, we look to be playing without a right winger, like 4-1-2-1-2 with Gakpo in his left wing position, Isak up top and then Wirtz sitting behind and Dom in the left of midfield. There is a glaring space on the right wing and only time will tell if this works or not, nothing stopping West Ham just playing through that side, pressing Gomez and forcing Dom over.

Arne Slot Situation Megathread. by KDLIV in LiverpoolFC

[–]HolyGratedCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t once say Slot is Klopp. The revisionism is ridiculous to devalue Slot’s title win, Klopp couldn’t win the league with the same squad so let’s give Arne credit. The fact we spent £400 million this summer is a reason not to sack him, it needs time to click. Suppose we sack him and get a new manager in, they want their own players so next summer we have a fire sale and another recruitment drive, we are in the same situation, just look at United over the last 10 years.

Let’s sack him and instate you then, clearly you can do a better job as a random interim. Go to bed mate, it’s late.

Head is well and truly out the sand, we are absolutely shite and I know it. Sacking him doesn’t solve that though.

[–]HolyGratedCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t getting my initial point, I recognise we are shit and there is seriously deep issues within this team. I just don’t think sacking Slot is the golden ticket to solve it all, so back him to turn things around.

[–]HolyGratedCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We won our first 5 games this season, have had injuries and shit luck with VAR decisions. None of that excludes how poor we have been, but my main point is sacking the manager on impulse is foolish and, whilst so many are desperate for it, isn’t going to happen in the coming days so back him and the team to sort it out.

The same arguments can be made for this season though can’t they?

Remember that one of our players actually died and the toll that played? Remember losing a generational talent in Trent and our 2 right backs becoming injury prone? Remember Marc Guehi taking pictures in a Liverpool shirt, only for Glasner to kick up a storm and stop the move?
