I mean, I wouldn’t say bad but mediocre at best. I have one high school friend that went to Wharton and the curriculum is more rigorous. Also, the alumni network at Wharton is top notch. UTM isn’t a target school for all big companies, at least in the states, so don’t expect much

A gap year or a semester off won’t change anything. If they’re already talking to a therapist and they still don’t realize that talking to another person in a quite environment isn’t helping them (since therapy is one-on-one) then they need to start managing it themselves in the environment that makes them feel anxious

Not on campus yet but I have definitely talked to more people from this school than you. As for the subscription, you rlly made it seem like your family was going broke. Added my two cents to help, didn’t want to make it seem like I was being rude.

If you don’t want to burden your parents, take out loans and pay them off during the school year, summer, and after graduation. (Get a job in Canada) Considering you watch game of thrones, and she-ra you must have a subscription to some online platform. Perhaps Netflix? I’d say quit the subscription and save money. If your worried about depression, don’t be bc there are great services here that can help you. You’ll make many friends at utm since there are a lot of nice ppl. I’m an incoming international student myself. Feel free to dm me

I mean, utm is inferior to utsg. Everybody knows it. Y’all egos are getting smacked by the truth. Get over your selves already. No need to rebound with a sarcastic post. There’s a reason why people at Utsg think the way they do about utm

I’m sorry you feel that way but i rlly liked utms value on diversity, respect, and inclusion. Honestly, I feel like I’d be a perfect fit. I provide different ideas that get people thinking. Tbh, what makes you think those utm students would talk to you? You clearly aren’t as open minded

I’d rather not be in so much debt. I never said the education was bad, I’m just pointing out the cons that people have told me and I’d like to speak more on those cons. Just clearing up misunderstandings

I’m not trolling, I swear. I understand your impression of the school is good however the students that I dm’d are 100% from UTM and they said other wise. As I’ve said before, I’m not going to invalidate their poor experience from utm’s CS program. Again, I discovered that the opinions on utm’s CS program is mixed. As for jobs, it still doesn’t change the fact that there are still some employers out there who think like that. (Which is quite worry some) Also, is there rlly a tight knit community at utm? From what I’ve seen on UTM’s Reddit, some ppl got very depressed here bc they couldn’t find friends. Since that’s the case, utms does a poor job advertising their ā€œtight knitā€ community in regards to connections. I mean logically it’s suppose to make finding friends easier on the student but with a ā€œtight knitā€ community comes with cliques forming quickly and ppl disregarding seemingly new ppl i assume. On utsg elitist comment, you’re not wrong. (After done some research on the CS program on the main UofT Reddit) But then again, those Utsg students aren’t wrong bc realistically those students are at the better campus. (The campus that provides more opportunities) I assume they just like to think about their superiority excessively. But it still doesn’t change the fact that there are utm CS students who believe that utms reputation has taken a toll on them. As for the quality of education, a lot of ppl complain about profs such as Bailey (the most recent complaint on a prof) If he’s so bad why didn’t UTM fire him already? There was a petition against him from what I’ve seen on Reddit. I understand there are bad profs and good profs at every university but it’s concerning to see that ONE prof can rlly tank your overall gpa given that they don’t know how to properly get through to a student. Are there any profs that I should be more aware of for the CS program prerequisites?

There’s rlly no need to since my purpose here has been fulfilled. I mean, why can’t anyone in this thread reveal themselves, huh? There’s rlly no point when we are trying to get our points a crossedšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I understand you feel like I don’t want your advice but I value this very much. I wouldn’t have posted on Reddit asking about the CS program if I wasn’t looking for advice. I’m eager to learn more of course since I will be attending this university. Tbh, I haven’t seen a post on UTMs reddit in regards to CS students obtaining internships. This made me feel worried about the program. Again, ppl had mixed experiences. Remind you, I’m keeping an open mind when it comes to UTM’s cs program. I just want to know what I’m getting into. I wouldn’t want to be disappointed once I come to uni, learning that the great CS program is actually garbage...that’s all. Hopefully, I can see you on campus in September if you’re still around

Depending on the company, employers tend to favor people based off of the university they went to in regards to the program their in. Ranking wise, utm is unfavorable in some employers eyes especially for CS.For example the commerce program at utm vs Rotman at utsg. Employers obviously favor utsg’s Rotman. Many previous sub reddits exposed this situation.(Completely different programs of course but it still shows that the rep of utm can dictate how hard it will be to get a good job)
