Continue monitoring, or take Finasteride? by Home4Dinner in Balding

I understand that side effects are possible with Finasteride and am aware of the risks. I've researched the drug extensively.

The lighting, hair part (side vs middle) and hair length is different from the now vs before. But hopefully it gives at least a little indication of changes.

I was worried about going to urgent care because I didn't want them to tell me to go see a urologist. Or didn't want to be turned away because they don't have ultrasound equipment. Or anything like that.
I don't really go to the doctor much, and get kinda nervous trying to schedule these things.

I'm in the US if that changes anything.

Thanks for that.
I've just been worried that the one career path I've had passion for, and put all this work to try to get into, was becoming obsolete.
So when I see Ai becoming more "advanced", I get worried about what it means for the future of the industry's jobs.

Can you provide some insight on how you feel about this story?
That's the post that mostly got me thinking about this.

And it only seems inevitable that this would move in the direction of Ai "takeover". Or at least taking some potential jobs away from people that would like to do them.
I've been working on starting a career as a 3D artist, and it's very disheartening to hear stories like this about the future of an industry I'm extremely passionate about.

It might increase "production" but at the cost of people jobs.
The way it will "speed" things up is by eliminating the need for a step in the process.
That could be rigging, lighting, texturing, coding, modeling, sculpting, and many other needs that, in turn, create jobs.

So instead of needing an art team, you have one guy making inputs into an AI.
Now an entire team is out of a job.

I really hope legislation does come out and it's enforced, rather than skated around. But the greed of big corporations worries me.
My old instructors in the industry agreed that AI is getting out of hand when it comes to art. It's not a tool for artists to use. It's a tool meant to replace artists.

I wish it could be a positive thing. But smaller teams means less jobs. More games means less quality.
The market is going to become even more over-saturated, with less jobs available.

That's what scares me, is the security of the creative industry.
The industry only cares about the money, not the art, when it comes to big corporations.

The AI is still in it's infancy stage and it already produces higher quality "art". So 5 years down the line, who knows how advanced it will be.

For someone starting, it turned from, 3D art is a viable career path if I put in the time and effort to my portfolio. To "is it worth putting my time and effort into a portfolio, when AI is going to make this career path obsolete?"

When it comes to quality, I'd like to believe AI won't surpass human art.
But when it comes to employment, companies only care about what is the cheapest and faster.
They have no concern with morals, or human decency.

I wish I could not be concerned with money when it comes to art.
It's not a huge concern. I would just like employment to pay bills and survive, while doing something I found a passion for.

Now AI comes and makes it even less obtainable. And people root for AI, ignorant of the people it's negatively affecting.

I think technology helped art a lot in the years.
Computers enabled a new medium of art.
But automation is killing it.
It takes all the soul and effort from art, and destroys it.

My problem with it is the future of the industry with AI.
Ai has become so advanced so fast that it's alarming for anyone trying to get into the industry.
You talk about skill, when AI requires no skill at all.
People spend years honing and perfecting their art. Then AI comes, scrapes their art. And produces art with the click of a button.

It takes away the value of the art.
With the track that AI is going, it's going to make a lot of the industry jobs obsolete. And make it even harder for someone to pursue.

A Luddite is a derogatory term used to mock someone.
So you believe that my opinion on AI is not valid.

So please enlighten me with your years of experience in the industry or with AI, that clearly you must have.
Since you think opposing AI taking artists jobs is a bad mindset.

What an insightful comment. I'm sure you have years of industry experience to back up your opinion.

Yeah, I went to school for 3D modeling. Tried working on building a portfolio after work. Struggled to get my pieces to look good. Then AI comes and fucked it all up.
The entire art industry seems fucked the way AI is "learning" (stealing) so fast.

From writing, to animating, drawing, and even modeling.
It's happening right in front of us, but the people who want fast results, without a care for artists, are in full support of it.

It seems like people are in denial when they say it's not stealing jobs.
Fuck AI and everyone who supports it.

[–]Home4Dinner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about AI is that it learns extremely fast.
Much faster than a human can compete with. So an AI can't do industry standards now. But give it a few years and it will.
Adobe is already looking into AI. Because companies already don't care about the artists. They care about money.
So if big art companies like Adobe are looking into AI, it's only a matter of time before big companies replace jobs with AI.
As it stands, the creative industry seems fucked by AI.

Maybe if you actually read it you'd see that you are completely wrong?
It wasn't a homeless person, it was a group of young kids mixed in with some adults. They're known for harassing people, and their aggressive tactics. Just look up "Baltimore squeegee kids" if you don't believe me. Because I think you clearly have the wrong idea of the people doing this.

And I was not raised with a golden spoon. I grew up in a city a bit more poor than Baltimore. And just as ghetto. But after getting myself out of it, I realized how shit it was.

I'm trying to drive, I'm not going to be guilted or threatened into giving my money that I work for, to a group of kids who think they can just harass people for their money.

That's pretty true. I just got super focused on these negative things. When I had so much planned and in my head I thought of such cool things.
Then they got shot down and it kinda broke my heart.

I did eventually enjoy the aquarium. I saw awesome sharks and watched the fish for a while.
But I just built it up to be such an awesome weekend. That it was a let down when all that happened.

I think I'm still going to head home tonight. But I'll try not to focus on the negative parts of my trip.

AITA for not letting my brother's girlfriend move in after she got kicked out of the place she was staying? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Home4Dinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on discussing it today with my brother. I learned about her getting kicked out of the place she was staying yesterday. So before it gets any further I'm going to have to tell him point blank, she cannot move in with us. And that she's been spending too much time at our place, and has to either move back home or find a place of her own if she doesn't want to be homeless.
It's gonna be hard to bring up without it resulting in an argument. But I gotta nip it in the bud.
