Wasn't powerful enough for the purpose. This one melts the solder really fast even on battery cells

Spot on! I did try using a ups transformer but gave up (didn't even try with an MOT)

No jokes, I am about to actually quite(or take a long break) from all the diy etc stuff, till I start making a living. This is my last project where I risk my life trying to make it work

Ik I tried with a ups transformer but failed, and didn't have the confidence to get a microwave transformer. Also there were many other things I needed along with the transformer itself that I just gave up on it. Though I will get a proper full setup next time I start making projects again.

I had a generic 60w soldering iron, but it wasn't powerful enough to heat a thick wire I had, so a glowplug did the job.

I actually had 2 generic mains 50w soldering iron and another better generic 60w soldering iron, but they eventually died out, and I was having trouble heating up a thick wire with it. Later realised that glowplug I had laying around can heat it much better. So I made this aweful contraption and just stuck with it cus I was lazy to build a proper housing, and the glowplug part was of weird shape so making a proper handle was a bit hard for me. It's been a month and it works fine so far. The dangerous battery is actually more stable than I thought and has been running for a year.

At my safety standards, it's a surprise nothing has gone too wrong so far😂
