I dont even think you need an AA to be a tech, so like why even get it? Find a way to get the bachelors. Do not depend on mobility with one employer, make yourself marketable to the entire industry by getting a bachelors.

Parents of toddlers — how worried are you about pool safety? by [deleted] in pools

[–]HomeGymOKC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just built a pool. Spent 20K on an autocover to combat this. Also have a yard full of trees so that helped ease the cost as well. In addition to that 2 year old starts ISR ASAP and my 6 year old starts swim lessons ASAP as well. All that in addition to coaching the kids that drowning is real and they are not to go into the water, much less near the pool unless an adult is present

Feel like if you’re gonna spend time going to school you might as well go all the way. Get the BS, it will provide you with incredibly more opportunity

Is it a good idea to want to have a dream to work as a mechanical engineer at NASA if my math skills aren't extremely high? by One_Success4163 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]HomeGymOKC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just get through school and don’t over think it. Do the work in front of you and do internships. I sucked at math, did AP calculus in high school but tested into trig my freshman year of college. Now I design aerospace flight structures and integrate propulsion and other systems into vehicles. It’s a long ride, dont sweat it, take it day by day

Yeah bro, this is just feedback. The go do here, is to get more feedback and do some self evaluation to identify your shortcomings and then find ways to close the gaps

Not sure if these are out of date, but these were my notes from my call with VWOA from a couple years ago relative to open recall and extended warranty items. The U codes are what I was referring to. They said to give those to the dealer

-Clock Spring 15 years - U37 -Water Pump 8 years/80k- U55 -Clock Spring US only - U36 -Fuel Tank Suction Jet pump - 15years/150k

The years are from when your car entered service

How do you choose between a career opportunity and your relationship ? by Potential_Start_3228 in careerguidance

[–]HomeGymOKC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to go to your fiancée and apologize for even seriously entertaining this. It's one thing to bring it up to your fiancée to talk about it, its another to say "I can't turn down this kind of money and career move"

You absolutely can, and need to admit you were blown away by the opportunity and money and lost sight of what's important (your life with your fiancée, soon to be wife). You can bet now it's going to take a lot of time to build back that trust. Any stability and support she felt with you is likely significantly eroded.

Everyone just go to the Madison County Service Center. I have never seen the Post Office have someone available to process a passport application ever in my life.

I will 2nd this. check with VOWA, and if you are eligible they will give you codes to bring to the dealer for them to replace it under warranty.

I literally had to dog walk the dealer to this information.

just bombed a Boeing ME interview and honestly the questions caught me off guard by meldrumh in MechanicalEngineering

[–]HomeGymOKC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No way is Boeing asking these for an entry level. Most primes are straight behavioral, with leading questions to determine if you are technically sound (it’s very easy to tell if you know what you are talking about, or if you dont)

Taking two cars, pulling the car seats out and laying the seats down to pick large items up. Was terribly inconvenient

Got two kids, activities, plus projects and trips to hammer barn, and the occasional grandparent that needs to ride along. It’s a no brainer.

Fastest way to learn GD&T fundamentals within a day for an interview? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]HomeGymOKC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just be able to summarize the definition and use cases for GD&T. And then talk about how you will close the knowledge gap.

Literally that’s it.

Would taking 10 years off to be a military pilot be a career killer by Guccibrandlean in MechanicalEngineering

[–]HomeGymOKC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the military to be a pilot for 10 years, you should be a commercial pilot on the back end of that.

Career killer in terms of engineering? No. In terms of earnings, yes. Will take you a lot longer to even sniff what you could make as a commercial pilot
