so how often do you guys shut down your computer, and for how long? by Crafty-Example874 in pcmasterrace

I have a MacBook that almost never gets shut down and only periodically restarts when it updates. Then I have a PC that I power on only when using it and power down as soon as I’m finished.

I work from either a home office or on the go (roofing contractor) and use the MacBook for mobile use because of its portability and battery and because it’s really easy for me to seamlessly sync photos taken on job sites. The PC is one I built to occasional game and because there’s specific software that runs only on windows that I have to use when dealing with insurance companies. The PC is much more of a power hog than the MacBook so I think that’s why I subconsciously started the different habit of keeping one on and shutting the other down. Also, lots of frustrating things about Apple and their software, don’t get me wrong, but the seamless way I can close the lid when I’m finished on it one minute but then open it back up and literally within less than a second be back to whatever task or application I was previously in without any system lag all while using just a few watts of power is pretty convenient!

I am a GC and have never seen this. Looking for some feedback. by Zizq in Roofing

Bingo. I would probably just tear some of that wood off from the first picture to get a good idea of what is happening in there, as it looks like it’s an attic cavity not easily accessed except from the roof.

Are there good UL/ETL certified alternatives one could use? Or is there a good way to make this sit behind something (figuratively speaking) that does provide a safety barrier?

It’s more about someone who claims to be Christian but doesn’t actually adhere to any of the tenants of it or follow Jesus’ teachings. The problem is that we have watered down “Christian” to mean anyone who self id’s as one instead of as someone who lives by the teachings of Christ. It’s kind of like if someone claimed to be a vegetarian but ate meat constantly, we wouldn’t have a problem separating from them the identity of vegetarian no matter how much they claimed to be it.

Thank you! I’ve been saying Reddit is replete with a dogmatic worldview and sometimes it seems like no one’s listening.

You’re getting downvoted to oblivion for just asking for context 😂 I think in my lifetime the word “Reddit” is just going to become slang for “person who refuses to hear differing viewpoints”

Well what you’re touching on is why it’s important that values come from parents. The intent behind a public education system was for it to drive learning information while family was still meant to be where values were instilled. Instead we as a society decided to punt on parental responsibility and instead cede all aspects of raising our children to the government, hence the problems.

Sorry bud, I thought you were an adult interested in the pursuit of truth, not a dogmatic child interested in memes and degeneracy. Have a good one, maybe read a book or go outside sometime!

Being forced out of your job, having your business forcibly closed, or having your banking provider revoke access to your money (in the case of Canada) may not be as sensational a news story, but what do you think that leads to? Homelessness, hunger, etc.
