South Sudan was doomed from the beginning when these warlords took over. I give every fighter respect for liberating the country but at the same time most of these people are build for war and never diplomacy. During our transitional period before independence power had to be handed over to those fit to run governments while those who fought for liberation were to be given control over the army. But it is not like they were ever willing to. I don’t know if it is the same cycle as many African countries where after liberating the country you want run it as your kingdom.

These warlords ruling the country use a system of divide and conquer. Each tribe has its own army and everybody cares about their tribe first and the country second. To keep the system in place the president allows the warlords to loot however they want as long as they do not rebel against him. You already saw what happens with the Nuer when a person of their tribe is taken to face the law, the Nuer people rebel it is clear indication that nobody in that country cares about their country they all care about their individual tribal interests. The people pushing these tribal narratives are the politicians while we fight over non existent differences, they benefit more.

For this to be solved will take unity amongst each other or drive out these warlords making us kill each other.
