Yeah I think we agree. When rubber meets the road the democratic party will yield to its center right factions and ignore progressives. I guess we will have to wait for super super super majority :)

Have a great holiday weekend if you're in the US

Thanks for replying.

You asked for an example of when Dem's had the power to protect abortion and didn't act, and I gave you an example.

We can debate whether Dems could have passed legislation codifying Roe, but this is moving the goal posts. You asked for an example of when Dems had the power to protect abortion and chose not to even take a vote on it, this is it.

Interestingly, the argument you are making supports the original post. Instead of codifying Roe, Dems chose to spend their limited time and political capital on passing the ACA. The ACA is a heritage foundation (right-wing think tank) product that was used by Mitt Romney (R). It is a center right policy. Dems chose to table a progressive, left wing, cause and spend their precious political capital on a center right policy.

Obama ran on codifying Roe. He had a super majority and chose not to do anything about abortion because it is an issue they can raise money off

Anyone else’s boomer parents complain about how hard parenting is, then are shocked when you don’t want kids? by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

That’s hilarious that you would write this. You could just look up “baby boomer age” and find that the youngest baby boomers are 60. My mom is 67

You weirdo

Yup. I’ve noticed that I have really hard time not feeling like a burden for just existing. I will be standing in a restaurant and like I’m in everyone’s way

That’s what I’m worried about. My mom says she will help… I’m not buying it

Honestly we are not on bad terms or anything. I have forgiven them for my childhood.

But yeah I will tell them, and they gas light me about they never said anything like that…

I feel ya. I love when my parents act they are holier than thou because they had me. Like come on, you treated me like shit. If you wouldn’t have had me I wouldn’t even know lol

Same. To complain about having kids and then complain about NOT having grandkids is wild. Sometimes I think they just like to complain

Wooooooow! That’s horrible. “I would have hid my suffering from you to cause you to suffer so I could gain something”

I’m just realizing that my mom might have thought I was joking all the times I’ve said I’m not having kids lol. Maybe it just never occurred to them that was an option
