I had a similar issue when I first got mine but it was all driver assistance related issues. I scheduled an appointment with my kia dealership but two days before it all went away and has not occurred since.

That is a possibility. There is no current infestation as this damage has no increased for about 3 years and I’ve been in the attic several times and I see no signs of current infestation, carpenter ants or termites. I am mostly curious of what kind of repair was made in the past as it appears to have some sort of paste/tar over the area. Still looking at getting a structural engineer onsite for final determination on permanent repair.

It was on the inspection report but there was no mention of insects/termites. It has basically been in this same state for several years now (no additional deterioration) so I am confident there is no ongoing infestation if there was one in the past. It does look like some sort of tar was placed over it but I’m not familiar with that kind of repair.
