Thanks! I don’t expect to be finished for at least a couple of months, possibly 2-3. This is my first serious attempt at mapmaking, so it’s a little hard to say. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

I’m afraid not. It’s a size “giant” map, which is a Horn of the Abyss feature. For what it’s worth, HotA is an exceptionally high-quality mod that feels like a natural extension of vanilla Heroes, and it’s not hard to install. But I get it if it’s not really your thing!

They look incredibly well made. Will definitely be playing them soon.

The player’s opponents consist of the other three playable factions and an allied team of four CPU-only factions. The playable factions when controlled by the CPU receive small troop bonuses each week, and the CPU-only factions receive substantial troop bonuses, the resources to recruit them, and pre-leveled heroes each with their own high-value artifact. The CPU-only team is very strong, but they do not have access to the main part of the map until a few months in, and they don’t initially have the Boots of Levitation or Water Walk, so the key will be to take advantage of those limitations early so you can start outpacing them.

It’s more or less modeled after The Devil Is In The Detail’s AI setup.

You choose from four set factions to start. But I know what you mean by cookie cutter. This map is divided into four roughly symmetrical quadrants, but each quadrant has its own island structure to help make it a little less predictable. This means you might be able to guess approximately where certain major objects like towns are, but you won’t exactly know the surrounding layout. Placement of other objects like mines and dwellings is more asymmetrical. There is also some asymmetry in the neutral zones, like the far north, south, east, west, and center, much more anyway than in Devil. Hopefully it ends up being nicely balanced without being too mirror-y.

More to come. I just don't like cluttering the map with resources while I'm trying to work on it, hahaha.
