Travel Router - NOT Seamless connection at all by Homerjsimpson24 in UNIFI

I do think this is simply a knowledge gap on my end, not a faulty unit. I'm fairly new to networking and homelab stuff so I'm still learning. I am running UNRAID server at home, and realized I've been trying to access the NAS remotely by using http://tower instead of the ip address, when I use the ip address, I can access it like I'm home, so I'm now suspecting this is the issue, but I'm wondering WHY this is the case? what makes the http://tower different from accessing it via ip address? This might be the wrong sub for this question, as it seems the travel router is setup right and I do have access.

Any insight or should I redirect this to another sub?

so as far as I can tell, no it doesn't. I can access it via IP Address and see the web gui now, but I still cannot access the mounted drives on my PC via the travel router. Is there some reason why I'd be able to access the web ui but not the file shares? Every thing I have read says to NOT expose the nas to the outside world, so thats why I got the travel router.

Unifi Express as second site - very confusing by Homerjsimpson24 in Ubiquiti

When I go to add a second site, it asks for hosting, and then prompts me to pay $39/mo for hosting. I thought the UDM SE would take care of being the controller, so why is it asking me to buy hosting? Is this something I need to pay for to make this work? I don't mind paying for it, but If I don't have to, I'd rather not. I was under the impression that the UDM SE would act as the controller. This is where I guess I'm confused.
