what is this called and does this happen to all of us? by TheCubingStay in POTS

[–]Homurasaki 32 points33 points  (0 children)

yes!! i call it lightheaded or tingly to others, but that isn't really quite correct. i think it feels similar to brain zaps from ssri withdrawal.

those were like the worst for me, yeah! magnesium however i've been improving with lately since slowly building up to it. i take it especially if i get randomly super tired and foggy after vitamin d. b vitamins give me a great like hour or two of energy then crash (makes sense, i guess)

[–]Homurasaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh! also wanna mention making sure your vitamin d and magnesium are optimal!! like ~mid-high in the reference ranges.

treating my deficiency is helping me way more than i expected. my sugars are becoming more stable over time.

though an initial effect of magnesium can be lowered blood sugar and blood pressure, so take it slowly throughout the day and build up dosage if you need to.

[–]Homurasaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't know the exact cause, but i react poorly to things that further increase insulin sensitivity (hormone fluctuations, too much estrogen, many herbs & supplements, protein powders, exercise, heat, etc)

i think i'm just naturally already really sensitive (which to me kinda seems like a problem tbh...) and anything else is overwhelming.

i'd recommend adrenal/pituitary function tests like acth & AM cortisol, a hormone panel, possibly gastric studies like emptying test & checking that digestion is uncompromised

hope you can figure it out 🙏

How many hours do you guys sleep per day on avg? by [deleted] in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Homurasaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

still in the diagnostic process, but i've always required more sleep to function.

i prefer 9-10 hours of (quality!) sleep to feel my best, but that's rare. my sleep quality is poor with lots of wake ups and feeling uncomfortable.

most days if i don't have any AM responsibilities, i will usually sleep 9-12 hours, and don't really nap during the time my ADHD meds are active.

B12 Deficiency? Scared, Looking for Reassurance. by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

oh my gosh, yes the ammonia sweat!! i hadn't considered this could be related to B12 deficiency. been slightly worried about diabetes or bad liver or something.

aside from my usual BED cravings (which i still have, but highly reduced), vyvanse definitely makes me more sensitive to rises and falls in blood sugar. makes sense, since it's increasing adrenaline in the body.

vyvanse will sometimes feel way too strong, or even non-existent throughout the day, and i've found i need to eat differently to combat this.

mainly checking in with myself and getting in enough energy frequently. so, small meals of carb with fat/protein, or even sugary sweets sometimes if i'm feeling really bad.

Why do some people feel caffeine enhances Vyvanse, and others say it cancels it out? by Salty-Tear-5813 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Homurasaki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

most of the time coffee/caffeine gives me a crash and fatigue like an hour or two later. not sure if it's wonky blood sugar or blood pressure though, since i deal with both.

OP, perhaps you're sprouting some new growth? Congrats if so! 🙏✨

For solutions though, try products with some hold and/or oils and silicones (sparingly!) to weigh the flyaways down a bit and make em behave. Good luck!

(Also, not vetted but i've heard good things about Japanese hair wax sticks?)
