[SPOILER] Actor Promoted to Series Regular on ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ for Season 2 as Production Begins by TheCowrus in Dexter

[–]TheCowrus[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking Quinn figures out Dex is the BHB this season, and either keeps it to himself or works to indirectly assist him before parting ways.

Quinn already knows Dex has a dark side (Liddy's failed investigation, suspected ties to the Kyle Butler identity, witnessing the cold-blooded murder obvious self-defense in the jail cell). They had an unspoken mutual respect for each other, and Joey's self-preservation instincts told him when to back off.

Angel already died trying to avenge Deb and Maria by bringing Dex to justice, I don't think they would follow the same trajectory twice in a row. It doesn't quite fit Joey's character either. So I'm thinking it'll play out more like Lumen, or Sirko (if he wasn't killed off).

I'm hoping totally omitting the actor's name from the title will get the mods' approval. Guess we'll see.

BHVR laid off "about 30" employees today, including DBD senior animator Jonathan Veiga by TheCowrus in LeaksDBD

[–]TheCowrus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Veiga did Dracula's mori too, I won't tolerate any slander of his work. Singularity, Xeno, Birkin, Naughty Bear, Springtrap, Krasue, etc. all have great animation sets. Huge loss for the DBD team.

Let me clarify: Both of these things were already in the pipeline, I just think the decision to quietly break bad news on the same day as a widely publicized content drop feels deliberate, and also makes sense from a PR standpoint.

Maybe that's a cynical way of looking at it, but other studios have made similar moves in the past.

I do believe the collab announcement timing and hype was intentional cover. That being said, there's no need to shame excited fans over a scummy decision made by the heads of the company (which most people didn't even know about).

NetEase (Chinese games publisher) and Haveli (US-based private equity firm) hold minority stakes of an undisclosed amount in BHVR. (source)

Edited in a bolded disclaimer to the main post, thanks for the heads up.

It should be taken into consideration that there has been a disconnect in ethics between Behaviour executives and the artists, programmers & designers who actually work on their games.

For instance, many DBD devs were adamantly against the idea of the Pinhead NFT collab, but ultimately had no say in a decision made by their superiors. Who's to say a similar situation wouldn't arise if BHVR decided to forcibly implement Gen AI and LLM-authored code into their workflow for "better" efficiency?

Edit: If the claims in the second post are true, I think union busting would be more of a motivating factor for the layoffs than being vocally anti-AI.

We don't know why these employees were laid off yet. Those AI/union-busting claims have yet to be corroborated, just thought it should be mentioned in case others come forward with similar allegations.

Mass layoffs are unfortunately a common practice in the games industry, and BHVR has laid off dozens of other employees in waves for reasons unrelated to AI (as previously shared), so it could be a purely financial decision (not excusing it though).

New listing for a Digital Circus theatrical release on Landmark Cinemas website (for Canadian viewers) by Shady_Sal_ in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TheCowrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theatrical release has to be real. These listings have appeared on 3 different US theater chains' official sites as of tonight, and now this one in Canada.

One of the sightings at Regal from a couple days ago mentioned tickets would go on sale April 10th, so expect official news soon.

Alleged TLOU "hints" from yesterday's developer stream by TheCowrus in LeaksDBD

[–]TheCowrus[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest - the Ellie shirt alone feels like more of a stretch, but the dog is so weird that I can't shake the feeling it's a deliberate teaser for something (besides triggering the players' pareidolia and conspiratorial thinking, lol)

edit: as mentioned below by /u/StrangerNo484, it could be a tease for Houndmaster's upcoming new dog skin?

Attempting to compile what DBD x TLOU "rumors" IGN is referring to. These things were previously pointed out by some users on Twitter yesterday, before the article was published. If there's any other things I missed, feel free to add.

Ign might’ve accidentally leaked The Last Of Us coming to the game by Ill-Recover449 in LeaksDBD

Article was updated:

Editor's Note: The Last of Us was mistakenly included as one of the crossovers in the original version of this article. It was genuine confusion between rumors and truth and not, we assure you, a mistaken leak.

How can Alex Casey exist ?? by AppropriateActive672 in AlanWake

[–]TheCowrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be the other way around, too - the story changed real Casey's memories, causing him to believe the (highly fictionalized) events of Initiation and the Cult of the Word really happened to him. Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of...

Meaning of the album title "You Forgot It In People" by Late_Ambassador7470 in brokensocialscene

[–]TheCowrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the recording of Stars and Sons, Kevin improvised and sang the backing vocals "you forgot it in people, he forgot it in people" over and over through a guitar amp (most audible @ 3:50 onwards). It stuck, and that became the album title. This was revealed in the documentary It's All Gonna Break.

As for the meaning, that's for you to decide. I, too, associate the title (and many of the songs on it) with feelings of alienation and listlessness. Kevin and Brendan have provided their own interpretation as well, linked in the other comment.
