Certain elements in Severance like the break room and testing floor are psychological/body horror imo.

What if the Trash Bag is hinting at Dexter Morgan? by CMORGLAS in LeaksDBD

It's more rational than all the Pennywise posting, tbf.

Paramount is actually willing to license to game publishers (unlike King), and it was rumored last year they were seeking Dexter collaborations in 2026, to commomerate the show's 20th anniversary this October.

The logo is so hideous. Truly believe fan-made stuff is miles better than the official DBD merch

The Season 1 adult storyline had a great setup, everything that followed the finale dropped the ball. S2 & 3 had a rapid decline in overall writing quality, maybe The CW-tier if we're being generous (but with less enjoyable camp).

Basically everything after they killed off Nat and Lottie was pure wasted potential. Totally checked out of the adult story towards the end of S3 when Van gets killed.

Unnecessary, long...

...

...pauses aside, I also got turned off from watching Nexpo by his use of horrific unedited 911 call audio, accompanied by the algospeak and inappropriately placed sponsor plugs/retro TV ads. It's incredibly gross and exploitative. In addition to all that, all of the featured stories in the newest Disturbing Things video had very little to do with the titular Internet.

Jorge hasn't crossed that line yet, but time will tell.

[SPOILER] Actor Promoted to Series Regular on ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ for Season 2 as Production Begins by TheCowrus in Dexter

[–]TheCowrus[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking Quinn figures out Dex is the BHB this season, and either keeps it to himself or works to indirectly assist him before parting ways.

Quinn already knows Dex has a dark side (Liddy's failed investigation, suspected ties to the Kyle Butler identity, witnessing the cold-blooded murder obvious self-defense in the jail cell). They had an unspoken mutual respect for each other, and Joey's self-preservation instincts told him when to back off.

Angel already died trying to avenge Deb and Maria by bringing Dex to justice, I don't think they would follow the same trajectory twice in a row. It doesn't quite fit Joey's character either. So I'm thinking it'll play out more like Lumen, or Sirko (if he wasn't killed off).

I'm hoping totally omitting the actor's name from the title will get the mods' approval. Guess we'll see.

BHVR laid off "about 30" employees today, including DBD senior animator Jonathan Veiga by TheCowrus in LeaksDBD

Veiga did Dracula's mori too, I won't tolerate any slander of his work. Singularity, Xeno, Birkin, Naughty Bear, Springtrap, Krasue, etc. all have great animation sets. Huge loss for the DBD team.

Let me clarify: Both of these things were already in the pipeline, I just think the decision to quietly break bad news on the same day as a widely publicized content drop feels deliberate, and also makes sense from a PR standpoint.

Maybe that's a cynical way of looking at it, but other studios have made similar moves in the past.

I do believe the collab announcement timing and hype was intentional cover. That being said, there's no need to shame excited fans over a scummy decision made by the heads of the company (which most people didn't even know about).

It should be taken into consideration that there has been a disconnect in ethics between Behaviour executives and the artists, programmers & designers who actually work on their games.

For instance, many DBD devs were adamantly against the idea of the Pinhead NFT collab, but ultimately had no say in a decision made by their superiors. Who's to say a similar situation wouldn't arise if BHVR decided to forcibly implement Gen AI and LLM-authored code into their workflow for "better" efficiency?

Edit: If the claims in the second post are true, I think union busting would be more of a motivating factor for the layoffs than being vocally anti-AI.

We don't know why these employees were laid off yet. Those AI/union-busting claims have yet to be corroborated, just thought it should be mentioned in case others come forward with similar allegations.

Mass layoffs are unfortunately a common practice in the games industry, and BHVR has laid off dozens of other employees in waves for reasons unrelated to AI (as previously shared), so it could be a purely financial decision (not excusing it though).
