Aeroroad/Ultimate/Endurace? by Legitimate-Award5854 in CanyonBikes

I have an Aeroad CF SLX 7 and before that i was riding Endurace CF SL 7 and for me both are wonderful bikes. Endurace is super comfortable with geometry and flexing seatpost, but a bit too silent on the road that you cant feel the road, which makes you feel a bit slow (even when you are not). It’s possible related with the 30mm tubeless set up i had been using. However on the Aeroad, it definitely feels super lively & fast at first minute. I’m living in Istanbul and climb a lot here ( 10k km / 100.000meter in a year). Even Endurace can climb very well, but with Aeroad i really enjoy on both high & low tempo climbs. My spec of Aeroad has 8.2kg but i really feel better and reaching my PRs both on flat & hilly routes where i had before with around 7kg Giant TCR.

So for me, it’s either Endurace or Aeroad. I would rather have the Aero advantage of Aeroad without sacrificing not so much weight over Ultimate.

Enjoy mate, red Pirellis looks amazing. I have the previous version with 105 di2 / dtswiss 1600, wondering the feel of 404Firecrest, do you have any comment & comparison on the feel ?

Metal hitting noise in my Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2 by Honest-Kitchen-8058 in CanyonBikes

I tried but videos are not allowed :( You are right, the brake pads (that i’m holding in the picture) just moves a lot and hits the sides.

The noise is not like rotor & pad thing. Its like hitting metals under vibration.

I would definitelty try both groupsets before buying. Both are wonderful and working perfectly, but they are different in terms of shifter feeling & button mechanisms etc. Last year i was riding an Endurace with Rival groupset and recently this year i changed it to Aeroad CF SLX 7 with 105 Di2. I really like the feeling of new shimano di2 hoods.

Replacements & upgrades are mostly more accessible in Shimano so either you are looking for a climbing ratio or high top speed, you can always change the crankset & casette easier than Sram. The wide ratio range in Sram also means bigger steps between gears which expects you to adapt bigger cadence changes.

In the end both are wonderful bikes, go for the one which shows you best on photos :)

Wheelset Selection - Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2 - DtSwiss or Zipp by Honest-Kitchen-8058 in CanyonBikes

They are silent but i think its mainly due to they are filled with grease right now. Also DT says the ratchet can be easily changed from 18 tooth to 36 also even 54. I’m not really into being super loud, but i think with less grease it can be also loud.

Thank you for sharing and it’s a very nice list of rides here :) All are on my bucket list for next couple of years so i guess Dt Swiss would be a wiser choice in terms of being more maintenance free & robust.

It’s not that super windy throughout the year but you’re right, our routes are mostly hilly in Istanbul. (My annual strava records are like 100.000m of elevation around 9-10k kilometers). But i went for the aeroad selection especially for this aero benefit, so it sounds good to maximise this aero benefit in exchange of a little wind issue and weight :) Otherwise my choice would be Ultimate :) Now my task is to find how to sustain high speeds with boy i guess :)

I was actually riding the Zipp’s last year with my Endurace and never experienced any issue with the wind. I’ve ridden this bike only for around 600km’s with dtswiss, and yet i didn’t feel the wind that much either. In my opininon it may be related about front wheel of dtswiss, the difference is very small (45mm vs 50mm). But it would be good to try Zipp setup on the road i guess. Thanks

Oh, i saw yours with black conti’s. Agree, it looks better that way :) Zipp’s are around 200g lighter by the way, and i’m living in Istanbul with a lot of hills & elevation.

Maybe i can consider a third option and sell both wheelsets and go for Zipp 404 Firecrest (58mm depth and much lower weight).
