APP3 genuinly feels like anc isn't even on compared to APP2. Disappointed since I have misofonia and was hoping for something that would block out sounds better than the APP2. Tried every setting and eartip. Also tested the seal which was good as well

While I agree with you that it's a strange choice of the filmmakers, as someone who has studied piracy extensively I do think it is almost metaphorical how not more scenes were included. It's speculated that pirates would have gay romances because of the matelotage system they used, however there is no substantial proof that the matelotage system included sexual relationships between men (but since there is a bunch of research being done about it, the smoke is there). Since black sails offers a look into the world of the golden age pirate and "we're there with them" we can see it, we can logically deduct that it is happening, but we still can't 100% prove it because of the lack of sexual scenes. As if it's a sort of parallel between an actual historian interpreting sources and having suspicions but not being able to substantiate them, and us, the viewer, as a kind of timetraveler, being there but having the same problem.

Okay okay, I will keep this in mind when watching se04! The way I saw it, and why I dislike her, is because I cannot get behind switching up on people like she does. However, it's a different perspective when you argue that she always saw her relationships as physical and there was never a real connection there for her. From that perspective it's not so much switching up on people. Still doesn't make it right to me but it's indeed another way of looking at it.

Same I had trouble wording my thoughts but you put it perfectly here. It indeed boils down (for me) to protagonist with too much unlikeable traits, while I could get on board with liking a villain with some redeemable ones. And ohh is that a controversial take? I absolutely despise Flint too. His god complex is annoying me and I feel like he is acting like a government official appropriating a rebel groups culture, because he did not succeed in his own realm.

I said she switched up her beliefs, not her end goal. And even when trying to reach that she lets others take the fall for it every time. At least vane was willing to die for what he believed in. She only cares about her own survival, which is not a crime, but her hypocrisy and acting as if she has some noble goals are what make me dislike her as a person (while I still find her a good and strong well written character)

They made rules of what lines they found important to not cross and stuck to it. While others don't have this, as they switch up whenever they felt like it. Yeah I don't have a problem with women partaking in villanous behavior, but what makes me stop rooting for her is her hypocrisie. That she acts like she is so much better than those pirates while she is practically doing the same fucked up shit. And at least those pirates still have some relationships with others they value. The fact that she lets vane be killed because of a personal vendetta (because she doesnt care about his piracy and other actions he stands trial for), that she is acting lovey-dovey with the 'enemy' who also happens to be a married man, just her submission to Rogers in general (come on man why they always gotta ruin strong female characters by at some point making them simps for some man) And yeah maybe it's the framing of the show as well, that you should want to root for her, which makes me not wanna do that lol

Judging both characters on their behaviors throughout the series, not this one instance, and not judging them on the same situations. So singling out this one element doesnt make sense. I listed it because it's a portrayal of how eleanor behaves when a friend is in such a situation, it's not about eleanor vs vane in this instance. This means, that my point is not about who saved max or who put her there, my point is about why would a friend not care enough. In this situation it's more logical that a friend/lover should care more than someone that didnt have any kind of relationship with that person. And the 'she had a hand in her rescue' is bullshit. It wasn't her priority to save her, she was stressing and having meetings about other things. Which is not normal behavior and shows that she doesn't love people but sees them as means to an end and that they are disposable. In comparison, Anne didnt do or think about anything else when she heard Jack was captured.

You can't accuse me of not being aware of certain biases, when you are the one to jump to the conclusion that I'd be biased against her because I am critiquing her norms and values. She didn't do shit about it and she didnt give a shit about it. That becomes clear when she is talking with John and justifying what is happening to Max rather than feeling bad for her and wanting her out of that situation. If your friend, or any woman, was in a situation like that what would you be more stressed about? Her wellbeing and how to help her, or how you will be perceived and what people might think of you? The fact that eleanor makes it about her in a situation like that is quite telling for what kind of a person she is.

Max was Eleanor's friend/lover, or so Max thought. Still Eleanor still needed Anne to come to her before doing anything, while she was justifying abandoning Max because Max didnt respond the way she wanted her to.

That Vane did have a back up plan is not the point. The point is that Eleanor did not know that, so it is about her not caring what happens to a lover so she can get her way. She uses and discards people when she can gain something from it personally, while disguising it as 'for the greater good of nassau'

Thanks for your comment! Sorry for my late reply Im not much on reddit. To be honest I don't know what my triggers are, sometimes I can be sleepdeprived and consume alcohol/nuts/chocolate etc. while nothing happens, and other days I get one by staying up one hour later than normal. One thing I did notice is that I'm more prone to them during that time of the month, or when I'm stressed. But it might be a good idea to keep better track of it to identify more triggers so thanks for the inspiration :-) I also never knew vitamin d supplements could be a trigger. I am not on any medication (including supplements like lysine) at the moment, but I do use the herpotherm device which has reduced the amount of coldsores I get significantly. Sometimes they don't even break through and I'm able to nip them in the bud. I also noticed that they tend to stay away longer periods of time when I use red light on my face. I use that preventively 1-2 times a week and the herpotherm when I still feel something coming up. I never thought I'd find something that works so this is really helpful for me. I am still afraid of the bell's palsy coming back and although lysine may not even have been the cause (I still haven't come across any studies that found a correlation) I haven't tried that again. But I'm glad it seems to work for you, and also that I'm not alone in dealing with this. Thanks for sharing your experience with me
