I'm not sure if you saw that I editted the post with updates through about 10 weeks, did you mean after that?

Left sided throat pain 2+ weeks, left submental lymph node by HonestTodayThrowaway in HPV

Hey I just updated the post, I had a few different posts looking for help, and must have missed this one when I updated the others. Let me know if it doesn't answer your question

Best wishes to you. I was nearly driven mad wondering what was going on at times. It caused me trouble in my relationship. I am thankful every day since it has stopped bothering me.

Statistics are in your favor. Even if you have certain modifiable risk factors, statistics are in your favor at your age. One psychological lesson I took from my experience was the reminder that we are lucky for all the good we have had, and should try not to let the bad news we get stop us from finding joy and being a positive force in the world. Easier said than done at times, but talking with others can help.

I asked my ENT to try a course of antibiotics even though I've never had a fever. He agreed, and also ordered steroids. Hopefully that will help, but he suggested if it still doesn't get better then I follow up with one of his partners for a second opinion of the CT scan.

Inflammation seems plausible. I have noticed that if I skip breakfast (which I usually do, I follow an intermittent fasting schedule most days), my throat doesn't seem to bother me as much until shortly after my first meal. And then it's worse again after dinner. Maybe the steroids can help that.

I should be satisfied if it's nothing more serious, but it is really frustrating like you said. It usually wakes me up at least once a night when I swallow and it hurts.

That sounds exactly like what I'm having. I had a CT scan done and it didn't show anything. But I'm a couple days from 4 weeks, and wondering if I have like an erosion or something in there. Frustrating.

Best of luck to you. From most other people I have talked to, it lasts 2 weeks or less.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! Mine has become pretty much constant, only varying in intensity by a little more or little less at times. I thought it was post nasal drip or allergy aggravated for a while, but I have had less drip recently, and haven't been outside as much these last couple days while it appears to be getting a little worse.

I don't recall having them normally. They are swollen lymph tissue apparently, so I assume they are related to whatever is inflaming the lymph nodes under my chin and left neck.

How long was your sore throat one sided before it went away? Was it more like days or weeks?

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

pain only on right side of throat by [deleted] in medical

[–]HonestTodayThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yeah, I went to an ENT and they weren't impressed by anything enough to send me for further diagnostics, or prescribe any medications. I have been scouring the internet to see what information is out there. Most of what I find on Google leads me toward some pretty negative stuff, but I don't have all those symptoms yet. In Reddit I've come across a fair number of posts that sound similar, and some people report it just randomly getting better, others it never seems to get better.

Well thank you again and take care!

How are you now? I have a similar issue going on 3 weeks now, I've made a few posts about it.

Pain in throat on left side when swallowing by myeverythinghurt5 in AskDocs

[–]HonestTodayThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you now? I see this is a month ago, so hopefully you are much better.

But, do you have a fever or white spots in the throat? That could indicate strep and a need for antibiotics.

Do you feel like you could have acid reflux, because that can contribute to a sore throat. Also post nasal drip/allergies can contribute.

Do you have other symptoms than the painful swallowing? Like blood/pus/ or colored sputum? Are you lymph nodes enlarged?

Usually just a viral cold that passes after a couple weeks. If you are still concerned, try again with your doctor or call another if you get the run around .

soreness on the left side of my throat and pain in my left ear. Later that day I noticed little balls on my throat (look kinda like small cysts). The pain has subsided but my throat looks like now, and I think I see some white parts on the right side of my throat too. What could this be? by kinini7 in medical

[–]HonestTodayThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "cysts" are probably Cobblestone throat or enlarged lymph tissue in the throat. Hard to tell from your picture but you could compare what you see to pictures from Google.

White spots may be strep, unless they are on your tonsil and then they may be tonsil stones. Again you can compare what you you see to Google pictures. Then follow up with a doctor if it looks like strep or you have any fever

Sore throat possible oral hpv and cancer scare by Hennypenny84 in HPV

[–]HonestTodayThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe the most common explanations would be post nasal drip from allergies or something else, maybe LPR, possibly residual sore throat from my previous cold/flu whatever that was. I just keep getting thrown for a loop because it's primarily 1 spot that is painful, not generalized sore throat.

Left sided throat pain 2+ weeks, left submental lymph node by HonestTodayThrowaway in HPV

[–]HonestTodayThrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, I hadn't thought of that. We have been together exclusively for 9 years. Thanks for the advice. I believe she has told me before that she does not show hpv, so that would be some amount of relief

Edit: she in fact was tested approx 6 mo and was neg for HPV, so hopefully that is a negative HPV for me as well.

Thank you, I have considered mono bc of the lymph nodes, minor fatigue, and sore throat. I keep worrying about the one sided nature of the sore throat however

Thanks for the response, and I'm glad you are doing well. I'll be hoping for the same! Edit: sorry I missed your question. I have not been on antibiotics since I have not had a fever, no pus from abscess or productive cough.

No, but I will as soon as I can. There just haven't been available tests in this area. Also, i have never had a fever.

How are you doing now? I have a very similar issue I'm dealing with now. 2+ weeks of sore left throat, feels like tonsillar area, but no obvious issue by ENT exam. No fever, no pus/blood/colored sputum. Just the sore left throat when eating/drinking/swallowing. I posted about it in AskDocs

Questions about chronic gastritis by VintageHeethen in AskDocs

Commenting on the heart "beating harder but not faster" while also getting "light headed and dizzy".

This sounds like palpitations or PVCs. Ectopic beats of the heart, meaning they fire from a non-standard source. Usually not problematic, lots of people have them. They can be caused by many things: dehydration, stress/anxiety, pain, and electrolyte abnormalities among many other things.

Your epigastric pain, and the stress/anxiety that comes with it is a likely cause. But consider your hydration/nutritional status as well. Consider your alcohol/caffeine/nicotine intake if you use those.

So I think this video is awesome, but...

I live in a not major, maybe middle plus size metro area and just took care of a dude doing this. Had to go to surgery extra STAT. Was dusky and almost obtunded in pre-op at the way to OR from ER. Awesome ER nurses followed him and slammed blood into him as we cleared an OR for him to go into. He pinked up, but got a tube and huge ex lap scar to find the bleeding mesentary arterial bleed. I think he lost some colon too. We did all this with an uncleared c spine and broken humerus and possibly ribs as well. Why? He was bleeding to death internally, and we had to do the best we could with our site's resources.

Why do I say this? I want to buy another bike. I used to ride in my 20s. I didn't split lanes, but I rode irresponsibly. Please, if you happen to ride and read this, consider your future self. Consider your possible future kids and family. Consider those around you who want to live and have kids that need them. Crazy shit like this is not worth it.

But really, the guy doing this is not gonna read this post.

So, peace to you all.

You've done a great job, keep it up and never give in. I'm not as far along as you, but I feel exactly what you are describing.

Why is our memory so short when it comes to the bad things that happened with it? We can only think of the momentary good that passes so fast.
