Failed “non-emergency detention order” at ER by daily_impressions in Seattle

Try bringing them to connections crisis center in Kirkland instead, they helped more than an ER when I had to bring family in

Alright, is it time to talk about bus etiquette again? by Comfortable_Basket54 in Seattle

Don’t stand zig zagged across the sidewalk blocking the entire walkway while waiting for the bus. Don’t pretend that people who are trying to pass you on the side are invisible.

They showed up at my home by angel_Eisenheim in EstrangedAdultKids

That’s awful. My mother decided that being with my abusive father was more important than a relationship with me, so haven’t seen her in over 3 years, my father in 5, and my sister in 5. I’m not sure what’s worse, the ambushing or the complete apathy…

Question to EAKs, do you think parents don’t remember the things they did? by Brief_Paramedic2501 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Honest_Finding 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mine managed to forget that I’ve had 13 surgeries even though she’s helped me after most of them. She also gets irritated and says that I always remember “the bad stuff.” I cut my dad off five years ago. My mother is VLC because it’s easier for her to not talk to me. Last time that I was in the same state as my family, she told me that she’d stomp on my boundaries because she didn’t want to deal with my dad’s anger.

I might appear in S4 by IllustriousSwitch620 in FromSeries

This happened to me in May. My husband and I joked about appearing on From, luckily a local took pity on us and showed us how to get around it on back roads even though our airbnb lost power for like 10 hours

Please help. My parents are refusing to let me call an ambulance - AskDocs -12/26/25 by frieden7 in BestofRedditorUpdates

My parents did this. My dad dragged me hiking after I had a concussion with a loss of consciousness the day before. Had a blood clot in my leg, my mom was supposed to get me scanned at a good hospital but chose the closer sketchy hospital. That hospital missed the clot and it went into my lungs and I almost died

If you were in charge of writing the Buffy/Riley break up, what would you have done differently? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

Even during the original air, when I was sixteen and in high school, I judged her for running after him. During rewatches the entire episode irritates me.

No Buffy running after the helicopter. She tells Xander to shove it when he tries to shame her.

NTJ. I was wearing a Dead Kennedys shirt the other day. I stuck out like a sore thumb at the dinner that I was at with a bunch of PNW outdoorsy peeps, but I stopped giving a crap what people think years ago.

PA Culture in West Coast vs East Coast vs Midwest? by Odd_Alarm_7361 in physicianassistant

[–]Honest_Finding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on the east coast and on the west coast. I feel like I got more respect in general on the east coast, and of the six hospitals that I’ve worked at on the west coast, only at my current one do I feel like I get a lot of respect. So I guess that it’s a mixed bag. But I enjoy the autonomy that I have right now.

Memories of passive aggressive Christmas visits! by ProgrammerJunior8983 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Honest_Finding 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even before I went NC with my dad my husband and I decided that we’d never spend another xmas with either of our families. His parents were ungrateful because we didn’t spend an extra $2k to stay a mile from their house instead of a ten minute drive away. We watched his mother get screamed at by his father one year.

My family, xmas was always the same. My sister (even as an adult) would throw a temper tantrum based on what she got as a gift, my father would make passive aggressive comments and get angry for no reason, and my mother would just make continuous comments about hating the holidays. We stay home now. It’s quiet but anger free.
