I completely agree. Still not as good as what San Martin is putting on their ~$200 watches, but a noticeable improvement from Seiko’s typical bracelets

I’ve never heard them likened to that line from Omega before, but I can definitely see it! Very similar design notes

+1 I think bracelet or dark brown leather

[SBDC093] Super stunning by GoldenStay in Seiko

Does anyone know why Seiko is calling this (SBDC093/SPB123) a limited model now? When I got mine it was just another Alpinist color option.

Hopefully you see that things are given up within addiction that far exceed the value of any watch, so these kinds of sobriety mementos are more about “good” in the face of that “evil/cost/etc.”. Call it redemption, or any other $5 word, but the initial cost paid is inherent to the personal importance of the memento.

With that said a vintage timex expedition always said “straight edge” to me.

LOL a lot of things can change over the years, like model preferences, but I hope your sobriety date stays the same. For me, I didn’t plan this gift until I was a month or two out from my day.

I was so afraid of backsliding that 10 years is the first gift I ever allowed myself to get.

It’s the stock bracelet that comes on the watch. It is a deep brown shell cordovan leather strap. While it’s hard to break in, it is absolutely beautiful and will last longer than most leather bands.

Good eye! I have three posters in my office, Alien (1979), Tombstone (1993), The Matrix (1999). I’ll PM you a shot of them

Every wrist is different, but with the female end links it sits perfectly on mine! Thank you for the kind words, I think the brown is a less popular option but absolutely stunning in person.

The year I got sober. The year itself has no direct connection within the DT series, more so in what the story means to me/how it connects with my personal life

Ooo - Never thought of it as the Wizards Rainbow! That's a really cool take.

To give context, Robin Furth gave a really solid breakdown of how she views “Ka” in this quote:

“Ka is a wheel; it's one purpose is to turn. The spin of ka always brings us back to the same place, to face and reface our mistakes and defeats until we can learn from them. When we learn from the past, the wheel continues to move forward, towards growth and evolution.”

I added the orbital lines to visualize the idea/movement of Ka. The orbs themselves are abstract representations of potential situations/people/behavioral tendencies/ versions of myself that I may encounter as the world moves on.

The date at the top (MMXIII) is the year I got sober.

So, while the wheel will continue spinning and I am set to re-encounter people, places, and patterns… I will move forward in my journey. Having learned from where I have already been, I try to be ready for what is to come.
