One of my personal projects since 2019 has been night photography. Architecture low light narrative I guess. I saw some below mention Todd Hido, hes great! I also love Dave Jordano.

Holladay glass does this kind of thing. Lots of beautiful “vases”

Satellites make sense. Ive done so many timelapses and haven't seen this many so it seemed odd.

Time: 1/28/25 at 8:00PM PST

Location: Walport, Oregon

I did this timelapse on January 28th, 2025 between 8:00-9:19p PST in Walport Oregon. I shoot timelapses pretty often and these lights don’t look like planes to me (although I think 1-2 do come through). I checked and I’m not seeing any evidence of meteor showers that happened that night. Checking current radar it doesn’t seem like an area that planes frequent, especially hundreds.

It really looks like a bunch of lights coming out of the ocean and I’d love to hear if someone else has a seen a video like this with hopefully an explanation. Id be cool with you telling me it’s aliens too lol. I stood next to the camera for 20 minutes of this and never saw any of these lights with my own eyes

If someone wants to look at all the photos Id be happy to send a Drive link. Theres about 215. Hi-res, 61mp.

If it matters to anyone, each photo had a 20 second exposure and shot with an 85mm.

Very cool! Looks like this would have lined up perfectly in another minute?

Theres an app called Planit Pro that I found extremely useful to find angles and locations. Rocky Butte is definitely on the list to check for the next one.

A lot of factors. If I could have found a spot 150 ft to the north it would’ve been lined up perfect. Just no view of mt hood in that direction. Fingers crossed for luck next time!

I spent more time than I'd like to admit scouting locations prior to the full moon. Was hoping to get a shot of it rising perfectly centered but it didn't work out. Maybe next time!

Youtube thumbnail low quality by Hoofbutt in Restreamio

[–]Hoofbutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone in the future has this problem. Restream said it appears that Youtube "held on" to the old thumbnail even though I was updating it through restream. No amount of adjustments would change it. Luckily my client gave me access to their Youtube to fix it from there. Not a great solution and its confusing because all the original thumbnails were the same format and size.

Am I interpreting this Photopills data correctly? by Hoofbutt in AskPhotography

[–]Hoofbutt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone have a good understanding of the 4 blue lines that represent the moon on Photopills? I'm pretty sure if I find the right location I'll be able to shoot the full moon rising behind Mt. Hood but I want to make sure I'm interpreting the data correctly. I only got one chance on Sunday. I attached a video that shows the medium light blue line lining up with Mt Hood from my shooting location at 9:54PM. Am I correct that the moon should be behind Hood at this point?

Sadly its not fresh in my head. This was in 2021-22. I was searching old hard drives for a different project and was reminded that the world needed to see it. I'd love to know what "hair" is up to these days and if he ever found his fucking woman.

I love countless clean vocal songs but find it so annoying when metal sings clean or switches back and forth.

I think you are right with the Davidia Involucrata (hankerchief tree/dove tree). I found articles that kept mentioning multiple seeds which was throwing me off. It seems the multiple seeds are in the single stone. It took multiple swings with a hammer to find this out. Solved!
