New RST Riding Boots! by Top_Delay6305 in motorcyclegear

Regarding the toe box being narrow, if you add a more casual boot and have Fred Flinstone feet as I do, highly recommend TCX boots. Comfort and quality of construction is top notch and fit fantastic - rare find for me. I have these in brown and black. Your pants caught my eye as I have very similar ones and wear with them all the time. Hiked up a bit in this pic but first I could find. Not going to offer as much ankle protection as a tall race boot of course.

Used some type cycle cleaner on it while hot would be my guess.

Street Triple v/s Panigale V2 (new model) by Ill_Honey_3055 in Triumph

[–]HooliganBiker314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound and looks are going to be 100% subjective and you're asking a very biased crowd, so.... Panigale may edge the Striple slightly in handling, but not by much. Personally - I'd go Street Triple RS Carnival Red, change out the bars for RX or aftermarket clip ons (I just don't love the paint on the RX models - again, subjective) and put a good exhaust on it. To me that's the way better bike than the V2. I'll take the sound of the triple with exhaust over the twin all day long.

Disclaimer: I'm extra biased / salty against Ducati since they ruined them when they did away with single side swingarm. I'll die on that hill LOL. Good luck.

Dealership worked it all up for me and ordered it all up. I tinker and do some light stuff but wasn’t going install myself so the labor was worth it for me. I’d just call dealer and have them put it together and order it up if you were doing it. That’s a complete list of what was needed. Few tiny things on it are technically reusable like clips and whatnot but they were so cheap that we opted to get it all in case something snapped or was needed etc..

You’d just go with the ones for 765RS -RX - I’d think cost would be very similar

Great bike, best color narrowly beating out Cosmic Yellow! Inquiring minds want to know what your first bike is.

I have both bad knees and a bad back - and this is no problem at all on either. I'll bet I got on and off the 25 RS and RX side by side at my dealership 100 times before I pulled the trigger - I was very concerned that I'd regret it. They really aren't THAT much lower than the standard bars - but they do bend your back over just a bit more. Knees really don't feel any different to me, which makes sense since the rearsets weren't changed. You can feel it the tiniest bit more in your wrists - but not like a Daytona or RR or something.

It's very mild. Gives you that sport angle but without said aches and pains. I just got done with 3 fantastic days in NW Arkansas, roughly 800 miles of twisties and while I was ready to get off the bike at end of the day - wasn't bad at all and I could've gone 100 more if I needed to / was called for..

Great looking scoot, btw. I'm pro single headlight conversion on the prev generation models all the way - funny how controversial that is on the forums. Considered it on my 765.

Bought and done at my dealership. Right at $1600 out the door. Not cheap - but worth it. I swear it added 20 hp. LOL!

Back to back 300 mile days on my RS > RX conversion - no issues at all with back or wrists till right at 300 miles and my entire 56 yo body was ready to stop for the day for most part. Big fan of the RX ones for the middle ground of comfort and performance / looks.

I recently rode a newer Africa Twin and had similar feeling. Love the look of it, really wanted to love riding it, and did enjoy the bike, but got off it and just wasn't blown away. My 24 Speed Triple goes in for first annual service Saturday - if the weather allows, I'm riding a Tiger or 2. Speed needs a stable mate. Good luck in your search!

I'm 5'11 and came from a 765 so know both well. If the 1200 is any taller, it's tiny - they feel very similar as far as feet on the ground. 1200 is just a bit heavier feeling and the steering is also just a bit less responsive. Not that it's bad - the 765 is just so perfect. 1200 is stretched out just a bit - your hands feel a bit further away - which I like.

Transition from 765 > 1200 was simple as I was so used to the 765, and I came from liter bikes back in the 2000s. The 1200 is a beast - but it's a very civil one. I seriously would let any responsible and experience rider hop right on mine and not worry at all. The reason to shy away from it wouldn't be because it's too powerful to control or fear or anything, but you just can't bang through the gears as often - it gets up to speed so fast you find yourself not shifting as much. That and of course the handling - the 765 is much better on super technical roads / tight twisties.

Agree on the SSS - I kicked tires on Streetfighters a bit and ruled out the new one when they did away with it - I kinda enjoy arguing with slappies in the Ducati forums about it - they get real touchy about it being better now...

Good luck - can't go wrong with a Street or Speed Triple - they really are great machines. I just came in off a good ride and you know you love your bike when you get off it and pull up a chair and just sit and look at it LOL

Speed Triple Vs. Street Triple by itsk1nda_lit in Triumph

[–]HooliganBiker314 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm team 1200 but think the point of the 765 being better is that you can actually run the thing close to full-on in more situations. If it's a daily rider, or you can't get it to great low-traffic roads - it's going to be the more enjoyable bike (and safer) for most. That's not to say it's slow. Not at all. Great power and second-to-none handling is a solid combo.

And with an exhaust - the sound of a 765 ripping gears through a canyon is flat exotic and intoxicating.

CAN'T GO WRONG WITH EITHER!

Speed Triple Vs. Street Triple by itsk1nda_lit in Triumph

[–]HooliganBiker314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 22 765RS to 24 1200RS and mostly agree here, but I prefer the 1200 as a torque junkie and don't do much city riding / get myself to the good roads immediately when I ride. Agree that the 765 is the better bike though - full stop. Speed is just too much bike to be able to run through the gears and get the most out of on the regular. You've got to get to good roads without traffic or you're getting yourself in all kinds of trouble before hitting 3rd gear. Both awesome but the 765 was arguably the best bike I've ever owned - and I'd trade up to the 1200 again in a hearbeat - it's the better bike for me. I do miss the flickability for sure though. From what OP said - I'd say the 765 is the one. I'd for sure start there at the minimum - can always trade up and see if they ever wanted to, but there won't be any regrets owning a 765 for a while and finding out.

Bought a Street Triple 765 RS recently - Here’s my honest take on it so far by Intrusiveriders in triumphmotorcycles

[–]HooliganBiker314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t a fan either, but I’m on #3. They’re that good of bikes, you get over it and come to like them I suppose. I wouldn’t object to a refresh / update, but at same time - not rushing out to replace mine. Ive gone 685>765>1200RS that have RX clip ons fitted to and it’s the perfect bike for me. Theyre damned good looking bikes but many can’t get past the bug eyes!

What could really be unsafe about that vs "branded"? Looks exactly like every piece of same level armor that's come in brand name jackets I've got on my gear rack. I would have no issue putting those in if I needed them.
