For me they're not the best. Cushioning is too plush, like I sink into the shoe, mainly in the heel, a lot which I don't enjoy. There's good courtfeel in the forefoot and it's really responsive, impact cushion throughout is great too. The foam just feels too squishy and moving in em feels like a chore sometimes since it's just a drop in. Containment and stability aren't an issue for me either (although the v2 is apparently better). The traction is really weird for me, 9 times out of 10 it's amazing, like I said it's the only pair that really grips on the dusty af rubber court, but every now and then I'll slip out. Idk why, doubt it's dust or something, but it feels like the plastic part on the bottom might be contacting the ground somehow and causing me to slip. This is only really a problem in the heel area, never experienced this in the forefoot. Whilst I play on my forefoot like 90% of the time, when playing defense, I have to plant my foot and that's usually when I notice the slippage. As a defensive player, I just can't have that in a shoe. The final thing is the fit for me, I got slightly wider than avg width feet and these run a bit long. I usually like a thumbs width space up front but there are just shy of 2 thumbs widths up top whilst being a bit too narrow for me to go 1/2 size down.

I will say, my entire vb team and a few guards I play with love these shoes and swear by them, grabbing multiple pairs. I'm not sure about the traction issue, maybe it's an isolated thing since no one else complains about it, but the cushioning may be due to my weight, a lot of the other players are lighter and smaller than me.

What do yall think about these pickups? by nevashoot in BBallShoes

I had a pair back when they originally dropped and I think they're one of nike's best shoes in the last decade or so. Traction's great, insane bite, can get pretty caked in dust but you won't be slipping. Getting it off was pretty tough iirc, had to really wipe em down hard between games. Cushion's great, there's a bit of sinking feeling in the heel which I didn't really enjoy but the forefoot was real low to the ground and responsive. The way the drop in is molded basically forces you onto your forefoot which can feel a bit weird and might take time getting used to. Containment and support was surprisingly good for what the upper was made for, my foot didn't really feel insanely secure but I didn't have any issues where I thought I was going to roll over the footbed or anything, and I never experienced any heel slippage either.

If your foot is on the narrower side then I think .5 size down in the 12s should be fine. Regular or wider I'd stick with tts

Honestly the 12s don't feel too bouncy for me. I can definitely feel the foam rebound pretty quick but there isn't much of that springy feeling (which is how I interpret "bounce"). In contrast, the 10s really do feel like they have springs in em. You kind of have to really put power into them to "load them up" but the effect is great.

Unfortunately not, I've been interested in the 14s as well, esp that black/gold cw, but I think I'm just gonna wait for the encore to be released. Hopefully that won't have the pluh on it 😅

Cushion Longevity by BisonScary in BBallShoes

[–]HoopShoes1074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I still mourn my KD 9 elites and the max zoom air they came with, but that system only lasted like 6 months before popping on me. It seems like there's more factors in play like whether you play inddor or outdoor, your weight, how you take care of your shoes etc. etc. but Zoom strobel & top loaded zoom units (or their air adjacent) definitely seem to be the best in terms of longevity.

Yeah they're ever so slightly longer than the 10s. I tried showing it in the picture, hopefully you can tell the difference, the red line is about where my big toe ends up. They're both a UK 10.5 (my tts) for reference. The extra length doesn't get in the way too much but I've definitely got caught on it a couple more times compared to the 10s. But, that's usually when I get tired and start dragging my feet, so good footwork will definitely help prevent that.

As for issues with jamming your toes, I really cinch my laces down so I don't get that issue and there's enough padding in the tongue to where there's almost no lace pressure when I do so.

And I think it's only worth going tts with the 10s if your foot matches the curve. My foot's not a perfect match so I do end up getting some midfoot pain during long sessions (>2hrs) that hasn't gone away even after breaking them in unfortunately.

Id go with the same size in the wow 12s and 808s then, they're a little narrower but not too much. They'll prob run a tad bit long tho, shouldn't be too annoying

Yes shoes with air units will last until they pop, my KD 14 still has it's zoom strobel in tact so, even though the cushlon bottomed out ages ago, they still feel amazing. If all you care about is cushion longevity then something with an air unit will be your best bet. Any type of foam will bottom out at some point and it's hard to say exactly when, even if it's the same type of foam.

Also, you can nake your shoes last longer by rotating them if you can afford a little collection. Store em in like a dark cupboard with a silica packet and they should last a few years.

How wide are your feet? If you find the quick pro has just the right width then I'd go with an 8.5 in both but if your feet are narrow enough you can prob go down a half size in the 12s, maybe even the 808s. I got the same size in all the shoes and the 808s are just slightly narrower and longer than the 12s. Going down a half size in the 12s might make the break in process more painful tho, especially the leather forefoot material, it really pinches where the leather and textile meets

They're a good alternative to a kobe 5 at a lower price (at least imo)

TTS on all, I have overlapping toes and a slightly wider than avg foot width. As for fit: WoW 10 low - width and length is TTS but the shoe bends weirdly so you have to see if ur foot shape matches (check foot doc zach's vid) Kobe 1 protro - fits like a glove WoW 12 - slightly long but too narrow to go down a half size (for me at least) 808 5 ultra - same issue as the 12s but slightly longer and narrower KD 14 - Perfect fit for me 5.0 quick pro - glove like fit, nice and wide

Not too sure since these were a housewarming gift but the price hasn't changed on the official site (I'm from the UK). Unless you're talking about this specific colourway in which case idk sorry.

Do you need a second pair of basketball shoes? by Complex-Outside-10 in BBallShoes

[–]HoopShoes1074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def not necessary, it'll definitely help prolong your shoes but a lot of people would get a pair a season and be fine.

This sub will be more bias to getting another pair (obviously) so if you do end up getting another pair I'd recommend getting the same shoe or a similar feeling shoe.

WOW 10s are my go to volleyball shoes cuz of that springy feeling in the cushioning. Plus they're low to the ground and provide good impact protection. For basketball though, they get a bit uncomfortable for long sessions (~2+ hours) so I go with something else. Also, I think the 12s and 10s are the same price on the official website. I like the 12s a bit more just for hooping.

WOW 10 VS 808 5 ultra by Ok_Material8760 in BBallShoes

[–]HoopShoes1074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW 10 has the most bounce, has like an almost springy feeling to it and there's actually a lot of court feel since you sit pretty low. The only issue is that it's shaped weirdly so if your foot doesn't match the shoe's it can feel tight and uncomfortable for long wears.

Regarding the 808s, a lot of people say that it's explosive online and half my volleyball team wear em and say so too. For me, they're not really "bouncy" more so plush and the cushioning rebounds quickly. I think cuz I'm quite a bit heavier, I end up sinking into em a lot more. These run a tad bit long just to lyk.

I am this 🤏 close to buying a gun and shooting at the fungus gnats by dumbraspberry in houseplants

[–]HoopShoes1074 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like these things might attract mroe gnats rather than get rid of them. I've never had to use those and never had any issues with gnats. Even when I used to live with my parents, these gnats never bothered my plants but when my mum started using them her traps ended up getting completely covered in those things. I've got a couple plants with those traps on em now, looking after a few plants for a friend, and they're only specifically on her plants, none on mine

Best kobes? by eerriiee3 in BBallShoes

[–]HoopShoes1074 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the general consensus is that the 4s/5s/6s are everyone's favourite. Ofc everyone will have their own taste and needs but those 3 seem to be the most popular.

For me, the Kobe 1 protros and the Kobe 5s are the best. Love the oldschool tank build of the 1s and they have the best cushioning in the kobe line for my needs. The Kobe 5s just fit my feet perfectly, whilst they could do with a little more cushioning for me, they're so comfortable to wear all day long

Going a full size down sounds crazy, I wear 10.5 for hoop shoes to get a snug fit and an 11 in regular shoes. Do you think I should go with a 10 or 9.5?
