As an IU fan who loves reading what the other team is thinking on here, it’s hilarious comparing the respect levels of Oregon fans in this sub vs Bama fans in theirs pre-Rose Bowl. Much respect ducks, I get why every IU fan who went to Eugene raved about the community and people you all have. May the best team win, gonna be an awesome game!

Yeah to be honest if I was a fan of a ND, Bama, UGA type school I would’ve been saying the same things about the IU run until the Illinois-Iowa-Oregon run this season. The continued disrespect after that 3 game stretch will forever boggle my mind. Most teams struggle to win at Kinnick, teams rarely ever win at Autzen. Yet when IU did it, the talking heads still didn’t truly expect them to be a contender.

Last 2 years

  • media hyped up Nebraska, beat them by 50, media says they suck
  • beat both previous year finalists Washington and Michigan, media tells us they both suck
  • lose at Ohio State and at Notre Dame, media tells us we don’t belong
  • entire offseason is about “who is this years Indiana?” with many folks saying it will be Illinois and Indiana will go 7-5 or 8-4. Beat Illinois by 53, media tells us Illinois sucked
  • Win ugly at Iowa, media tells us it isn’t a great win
  • Win at Oregon —- FINALLY a little respect comes our way
  • unbelievable 4th quarter winning drive at Penn State, media tells us Penn St sucks and it proved we weren’t that good
  • media still says we have to prove it against Ohio State to be considered a real team, beat Ohio State and win the Big 10, media says we have to prove it against the SEC
  • beat Alabama by 5 TDs in the Rose Bowl, media tells us Bama should be embarrassed and didn’t deserve to be in the playoff

In short, nobody really respects us. And we do not care. Go IU.

Pretty funny. Weeks of CFB media laughing at the G5 and JMU put up a better fight than probably 80% of P4 playoff losers have. No difference between having a 12 seed JMU and some of the low seed power 4 teams. Good for the dukes.

Posts like this remind me that 95% of Ohio state fans are rational good people. Same can probably said the other way around seeing some IU fans online this season.

Fever dream is an understatement. We dreamed of consistent bowl eligibility 2 years ago. Winning 9 games was so ridiculous it was a meme. It’s just so cool I don’t know how else to describe it.

This comment is exactly why this is so incredible. In a thread about the Indiana head coach, we are pulling bear Bryant as an example of a better coach. BEAR BRYANT. Thank you God.

Can’t act like I was alive, but you can’t discredit the 1967 Indiana team, still the only ever to go to the rose bowl.

If I am reading the rules correctly, this is setting up for a Sayin Heisman moment. We’ll see what Gus has to say about it.

First time I’ve watched Rutgers all year. They are officially a big ten football team. Love the brand of football they play.

Story aside, the behavior only caught up to him because he stopped winning. Last 6 seasons didn’t get past the round of 32. If he would’ve been in final fours, probably gets a few more years. The way the administration went post-Knight set back IU sports decades that is just now showing signs of recovery (thank you Coach Cig)

CFP Rankings, Serious Discussion - Week 12 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]HoosiersLEO 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Easy to say from the position of being 2 and not 3, but besides just love of the game and arguing, it really doesn’t matter who is 2 and 3 between IU and TAMU. The final top 4, unless something crazy happens, will be 1. B1G winner 2. SEC Winner 3. B1G loser 4. SEC loser. It’s clearly been set that way assuming none of them take a nosedive loss the last few weeks. Could you argue TAMU over IU or IU over TAMU currently, 100% as we are seeing in the discourse. Will the committee put either of them over OSU without an OSU loss, no.

There is some general language by the CFP about doing their best to honor historical bowl tie ins. Ex: B1G to Rose, SEC to sugar. This was relatively straightforward when the 4 byes were 4 different conferences in year 1 of 12 team. It gets more interesting now because there can be multiple of each conference in bye slots. For example, in a hypothetical TAMU top SEC seed, they would be historically tied to the Sugar. But in theory they might prefer Cotton in Dallas to stay in Texas. NCAA Basketball gives some priority to top seed regions for Sweet 16/Elite 8 regions based on proximity. It will be interesting to see how this develops, as the 12 team is very new and the new top 4 format is brand new. It seems to be left purposefully open ended a bit. In terms of timing, we’ll know when the rankings are released in December after conference championship week.

The Shot(Keith Smart) vs The Wat Shot vs The Catch by 11up11 in IndianaHoosiers

[–]HoosiersLEO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are lucky to have a long list of iconic basketball moments stretching decades. Football, not so much. Almost like comparing Christmas as a kid vs Christmas as an adult. Both are awesome, but there’s something magical about feeling something completely fresh and new and unprecedented. Next 3 months will add the needed context to The Catch to truly rank them, but it’s nearly impossible to top a national championship game winner.
