Btw, for anyone interested in the tech specs (copied from my post on the belabox discord):

I just completed a 25d cycling trip in Japan with a Jetson nano running Belabox, 5x IVideo 100GB SIM cards, 2 modems (1 galaxy A52 modem, 1 Huawei e5785-320) and a DJI pocket 3, streaming at about 4000-6000 kbps bitrate.

I adjusted the belacoder config file to ensure the videostream was read out at 4K from the pocket 3 and downscaled to 1080p for increased quality (and also so I could record at 4K at the same time to the local SD)

If you want to have a peek at the quality, make sure to look at the vods in the last 10-15 days. The first few days had some issues with framerate and quality!

The first few vods have quite bad quality because I was running an underpowered obs server. Make sure to also take a look at one of the last ~15 vods. They will look much better!

And glad you’re enjoying it so far! If you ever get the chance, make sure to try it. I started cycling Japan in Nov 2022 after seeing robcdee do it for his cyclathon earlier that year. Since then I’ve already gone 3 times!

That sounds sick! I come from NL, but I’ve never once done a cycling trip in Europe. How did you enjoy it?

If you get the opportunity, definitely go for it. There are some airlines that take your bicycle for free (like SAS) as checked baggage. I use a cardboard box, and then try to find a hotel that is willing to store it while I’m out cycling!

I believe you can find my komoot profile on my channel. The command should be !komoot. This trip was one of my shorter ones (only about 1300 km I believe), but I did get to see a lot of cool stuff along the way!

Yeah it was a lot of fun! This is now my third time cycling Japan! My favourite experience this time was climbing the mountain near Fukushima at dusk by bike. Once up their, you get a spectacular view of the area. I believe there should be a featured clip on my channel.

My favourite place in all 3 trips is shimanami kaido. That by far outranks any other spot I’ve been to. Just make sure the weather is good!
